♛--------------------♛It was an effort not to wince by how the maid was pulling her hair into a chignon. I should be used to this by now, she thought. She looks at herself through the vanity mirror with round lights around its perimeter. Eighteen years for Christ's sake.
After a few more groan-worthy pulls and a powder retouch, the maid was finished. She gently takes the silver tiara, that is sprinkled with little and big diamonds in specific places, from it's velvet pillow laying on the vanity's table. She places it on top of Luce's head, like it was done ever since she could walk.
Wavy pieces of her brown hair lay softly on either side of her face as her hair was pulled up into an elegant hairdo. At least all that hair pulling turned out nice. Luce exhaled a steady breath and with a wave of her hand, the maid scurried off.
Jesus, another ball to attend to. But it's funny how the Kingdoms see these balls as a competition. Almost every month hosting a ball more grand than the others had. Ridiculous, to say the least. She pushes herself off the settee slowly, picking up the golden bell and ringing it twice. Immediately the head maid, Gina, walks into the chandelier lit room with her effervescent aura. "Ready to slip in your dress, dear?"
Luce raises a corner of her lips producing a half smile. "Yes, Gina. But it would be appreciated if my corset doesn't feel like it's going to fall off." Gina laughs and steps to tighten her corset. "Certainly, sweetie. How could my day be complete without me helping my little princess?" Luce smiles at this.
Gina laces the corset carefully, making slight adjustments, "This time, do try to make friends, yes?"
Luce stares at the white creamy wall of her bedroom, With those snobby people? I rather not. "I try, Gina, I try." she shrugs. "I recommend you try harder, dear. You look like an awkward statue in that room." The maid says as she ties the small bow on top of the corset. At least, I look like a statue with Jonathan.
Gina steps back, admiring her work, then takes Luce by the shoulders and spins her around. "Will that prince what's-his-name be there?" Gina sardonically smiles.
Luce rolls her eyes, "Jonathan, his name is Jonathan." she states. "And he's probably the only person in that room that I can tolerate." As he is the only person, that I know of, who has the same perspective as me.
Gina scoffs and nods "Okay, honey, whatever you say." she goes ahead to Luce's walk-in closet and disappears inside. Luce sits in her settee again, patiently waiting. After a minute, Gina walks out of the closet.
She holds a beautiful sweetheart neck lined, sky blue cotton flow dress with small white flower attachments, mostly on the chest area, and in stripes appearing from the left side that stops at the middle of the bodice. Lastly, making a curved trail going down the length of the dress.
Gina sighs dreamily "Isn't this just beautiful?" she says wistfully while holding it at arms length. "After all these years of taking care of you since you were a little child, these dresses you wear still awestruck me." Definitely. That's one thing I like about this life, daily extravagant dresses.
Luce stands up as Gina steps closer to help slip on the dress. She zips open the hidden zipper from the back while Gina lowers the dress enough for her to step in. Then she grabs the neckline and pulls it up herself as Gina goes behind her to zip it up.
"Oh, it suits you perfectly!" Gina compliments. Well, it was made for me. But Luce doesn't voice this out and nods in agreement instead.
Luce then goes to her vanity to pick up her white silk gloves that go up to the middle of her forearm, she slips them on in one swift move. She then takes her white espadrille heels and slips them on aswell.
