Olivia sprang out of bed when she heard "Max" asking if he could kiss her. She wasn't ready for that and even though she felt very attracted to him, it wasn't something she was ready for just yet. She noticed him giving her a funny look from the bed.
"I'm sorry! You must think I'm crazy..." She said with an apologetic tone.
"No, gosh... I shouldn't have just assumed you wanted to kiss me. Let's forget all this..." Lando observed her as he spoke. She was extremely shy and couldn't hold eye contact for long. She made little claws out of her fists and tucked them up inside her sleeve which was a clear sign that Olivia was feeling uncomfortable.
"Do you want anything else to drink?" She finally asked, offering him a coy smile.
"Yes, I'll have another one, please." He said raising the beer bottle. He wasn't even a big drinker, but even though Olivia didn't seem very interested in him, he still wanted to be around her.
She left the room for a moment and headed towards the kitchen. She stopped and leaned her forehead against the fridge as she took a deep breath. Olivia hated herself sometimes for being so socially awkward and not being able to just let go and enjoy the moment. She took another beer from the fridge, making a mental note for herself to buy Dylan some more the following day. She was suddenly feeling hot and bothered, so she took off her yellow hoodie before walking back to her bedroom.
"Here you go..." Olivia said handing him his drink. He had already set everything for a new match. "I guess you're not done having your ass kicked then?"
Lando laughed but noticed she was now sitting on her sofa chair and not next to him anymore. She had taken off her hoodie and had now a white tank top on which showed a bit more of her body. He couldn't help but look down at her cleavage when she wasn't looking.
"You don't need to be afraid of me. You can sit next to me again if you want..." He said.
"It's not that Max, sorry, I'm just really awkward. I just assumed you would prefer it this way..."
"It's your house, you don't have to worry about what I want." He said with a reassuring smile as she made her way to sit again next to him. Lando loved how she always smelled like vanilla, it was so delicious to him. Olivia briefly placed her hand on his knee as she nearly fell over to one side when trying to adjust her pillow and he felt a shiver down his spine.
"I need to ask... do you have a boyfriend or you're just not into me? Either answer is fine, I'm just curious."
She turned her head to him and for the first time she didn't refuse to meet his gaze. Her eyes shifted to his lips as she played with a strand of hair that had become loose.
"I'm single... it's just that I never, well I have... err... but I don't... never mind, I don't want to bother you."
"What is it? Is it that you have never been with a guy? Because that's okay, you don't have to be ashamed of telling me that."
She took a deep breath. Olivia didn't like to talk much about her love life, but she felt comfortable around "Max" as if she knew him for a while now.
"I've only been with one guy and let's say he didn't have my consent. He got me drunk and then..." She couldn't finish the sentence but Lando understood what she was trying to tell him.
"I'm so sorry! I promise I'll not force my way with you." He gave her a side hug.
"Thank you. That's why I don't drink as you may have noticed." Olivia said and he nodded.
"To be honest, I'm just having a third beer because I wanted an excuse to stick around a bit longer."
