Chapter five

Chapter five

         "Thalg Al-Salos!" Judar flew above the clearing, sending large shards of ice down to where Nishi stood.

         Nishi dodged the attacks, nearly getting hit by one of the shards. She raised her wand and melted some of the ice from Judar's attack. She commanded the water to gather and then yelled, "Sharrar Baraq!"

         A large water dragon formed in the water and ran at Judar with incredible speed. Judar quickly used a wind spell, forcing the water attack away from him. "Not bad." Judar smirked as the water from the dragon rained down onto the forest.

         "I'm not done yet," Nishi smiled. She wanted to use this time to try out a trick she'd been working on, but she wasn't sure it'd work well.  Nishi put her wand in it's place beside her sword and took the sword out instead. She raised the sword and tried to focus her magoi into it.

        "What are you doing? You can't use magoi manipulation." Judar watched her from the sky, completely oblivious as to what she was doing.

         "I know. That's not what I'm doing." Nishi focused again. She gasped as the blade became coated in water, just like she wanted. She raised the sword higher and swung it in Judar's direction, yelling out her new spell as she did so, "Water Blade!" Blade-like disks of water went flying from her sword, straight at Judar.

         "What?!" Judar exclaimed. He dodged a few of the blades, but some got him, cutting his arms as he tried to defend himself. "What was that?! That hurt!"

         "I've been trying to make my sword a magic tool for a while now. I still haven't perfected it yet, but it worked pretty well, don't you think?" Nishi initially wanted to learn about swordsmanship so she didn't need her wand as often, but now she also wanted to use it as a doorway to new spells and tricks. And with Yam's help, making magic tools is a lot easier... Nishi smiled happily.

         "Are you alright?" She noticed the cuts on Judar's arms.

        "Don't ask that when we're in the middle of a fight!" Judar sent more ice shards at her.

         "Woah!" Nishi leapt out of the way. "Well, we're not actually trying to kill each other, right? You agreed to that!"

         "Yeah, yeah, I know." Judar rolled his eyes. He checked to see how much ice he had left and saw he was nearly out. He used the rest of his ice, sending all of it at Nishi as one shard.

         Nishi quickly changed to her wand and held it sideways in front of her. She gathered water and covered the front of herself, as if she was making a wall of water. The ice hit the wall and instantly froze it, causing Nishi to fall backwards. Small shards of ice dug into her arms and legs as the ice flew everywhere.  

       Nishi panted and stood up, "Good one." She smiled a bit. "But I think we should stop." She looked around at the clearing. Broken tree branches and leaves were scattered everywhere, and the ground was soaked with water in some places.

         "Aw, why?" Judar pouted, flying back to the ground.

         "Not only is this place destroyed, but you're bleeding too." Nishi gestured to his wounds.

         "Eh, it's nothing." Judar shrugged, spinning his wand in his hand.

         "Come, sit." Nishi ordered. She sat on the ground in an area that wasn't wet.

         "Why?"

         "Just sit." Judar sighed but listened, sitting crosslegged across from her.

         Nishi pointed her wand at his wounds and water came from the tip. The water covered the wounds on Judar's arms and healed them easily. "There. I can't heal myself, but I can heal others."

         "Hmm..." Judar inspected his arms. There wasn't a single cut on them.

         Nishi sighed and smiled, "But that was fun! We should do that again sometime!"

         "You want to keep meeting like this?" Judar lowered his arms to his lap and frowned.

         "Mhm. It's fun. Sindria gets boring sometimes." Nishi played with her wand.

         "Kou gets boring too. But why should I waste my time with you instead?"

         "Cause we're both magi." Nishi reminded. "And I think we have some things in common."

         "What? No we don't." Judar looked at her like she was crazy.

         Nishi shrugged, "I think we do. We both find each other interesting."

         Judar stayed silent for once. He did still want to know more about her, so he decided meeting with her more couldn't be that bad.
