'Couldn't put it down until I'd finished it!' - one five star review of 'Kibbutz Virgin' on Amazon. My non-fiction account of an amazing six months spent as a kibbutz volunteer in Israel is packed with detail, adventure, and even romance - and it all really happened! I had a wonderful, amazing life-changing adventure, though at the start it took some getting used to; the plain food, the awful work, and the Spartan living conditions. The kibbutz I was living at - Kibbutz Dafna on the border with Lebanon - was attacked on numerous occasions by terrorists while I was there, and I've written about this and Israel's response.. Along with drinking Goldstar beer, (probably way too much!) smoking Nelson cigarettes on upturned Syrian tanks, Christmas on the kibbutz, Purim, and a fantastic kibbutz trip to the Dead Sea, Masada, Eilat, Dahab, and Jerusalem. Find out why I initially hated it but at the end of six months loved it so much I was reluctant to leave, and in fact returned again and again to Israel. Jonathan Nicholas
