*Carter*

I woke up and tumbled to the bathroom. After finishing up, I get dressed. I yawn and slowly walked down the stairs. My mother is standing by the stove when I get down. She chuckles when she hears me push the chair.

"Aren't you going to me your usual question?" I immediately realized what she was talking about. I sigh.

"Mother, I stopped asking that a long time ago." She laughed and turned around with her wooden spoon.

"Alright, sweetheart. What do you want for lunch today?" I looked down at the breakfast she prepared for me.

"I would like a ham and cheese sandwich with some freshly squeezed orange and carrot juice." She shakes her head and sighs.

"You never change do you?" I nod.

"I don't." Footsteps are heard behind me. I know who it is without looking.

"Good morning, father." He sighs and sits down beside me. I start eating my eggs.

"Why are you so formal? I'm your father, not your teacher or principal." I look at him after I gulp down my eggs.

"You work at my school, you are going to be my teacher next year. I must treat you formally from now to get used to the feeling." My father then points at my mother.

"Then why do you treat her formally?" She nods.

"You cook for me and clean my clothes, being formal is merely paying you back." Mother chuckled.

"Alright, alright." After finishing up my food, I stand and pick up my bag.

"I'm leaving, goodbye." I slung the bag over my shoulder and walked out of the house. Footsteps are heard once again. Panting and sighing is echoing from behind me so I decide to turn around. My mother is holding my lunch back. I gave a little 'oh' sound and smiled.

"Thank you, I completely forgot." I picked it up and my mother sighed.

"God, for such a smart kid you sure are forgetful." I chuckle and nod. The bus arrives behind me and I turn to walk inside.

"Bye, mother." I walk inside and go to sit in my usual seat but notice a girl there. I blink at her. The girl turns to me and the first thing I notice are her beautiful green eyes. She smiles and stretches out her hand.

"Hi, friend!" Was the first thing this girl said to me. I gave a little gasp and slowly stretched out my hand to shake hers. She laughs and pats the seat beside her.

"No need to be so shy! Come sit down next to me. Oh, and my name is Lucy Cowe!" I smiled a little and sat beside her.

"Carter Rybaid. May I ask what you mean by friend?" She blinked then grinned.

"I'm the new transfer student and I'm hoping to make friends. Your the first person who's talked to me so I hope to become friends with you." I smiled at her.

"Sure."

*The next day*

I quickly scrambled to my seat and pulled out my math homework. I didn't have time to do it yesterday because I was working on my English project. My head shook at the math paper completely forgetting how to solve them. I heard a rustle beside me. My eyes widened when I saw Lucy smiling at me. She then blinked when she saw my paper. A chuckle slipped out of her as she scooted beside me.

"You didn't finish the math homework? Here, I'll help you with it." She pulls out a pencil from her pocket and reminds me of how to do the problems. After we're done, she looks up at me with a relieved sigh. I look down at the paper, impressed.

"You really know how to do this, huh? I forget really easily so its hard for me to do this stuff." A small blush appears on my cheeks at that. She ruffles my hair.

"I might not look like it, but I was a honour student at my old school." I made a noise of realization as she pulled her hand out of my hair.

"You don't look like it at all! Your a lot prettier than most of the girls her and act a lot nicer! But your also smart, God, that must be nice." She tilted her head at me.

"What do you mean?" I sigh.

"Your pretty and smart. Everyone must really like you. Here they call me a know-it-all because I wear glasses and I'm smart. I don't have any good looks so..." She laughs and shakes her head.

"Thats not true at all! I bet if we just took off your glasses." Lucy pulls off my glasses and I gasp, immediately stretching my hands out.

"Hey! Give then back!" She closes her eyes and stands up while stretching them out. Since I'm so short I couldn't reach her. I crossed my arms and pouted.

"Give them back." She slowly opens her eyes to then blush. She just gaped at me while I blinked at her.

"W-what? Is there something on my face?" I kept poking my face. She shook her head, still gaping. Suddenly, she folded my glasses and shoved in her bag. I gasped and quickly jumped at her.

"I think I'm going to keep these for today." She mumbled to herself. I quickly shook my head.

"No way! Give them back!" She looked back to me. I smirked. While she was distracted, I tickled her. A high-pitched laugh left her lips as she doubled over. I grasped onto her bag and pulled out my glasses. Stuffing them onto my face, I huffed.

"There, all better." Sudden mumbles were heard around me. My breath hitched as I forgot we we're in a class full of people. I looked to see people looking at us with either disbelief, anger, or shyness. My face went red and I quickly sat down. How embarrassing! What should I do?

"Huh? Carter, whats wrong?" Shivers ran up my spine as I quickly put my finger on my lips, peeking at her through my hair. She furrowed her eyebrows and tilted her head.

"What?" I gave a little pointy finger at the crowd. She looked at them then laughed. My eyes widened and I stared at her. She stood up. My breath hitched and I buried my face farther into my book.

"What are you all staring at? What's so weird about friends talking?" I blinked at her last comment. A happy smile slowly creeped onto my face. She called me a friend, she wasn't joking.

"Now," Her tone suddenly changed. She sounded like she was going to murder someone.

"Sit down before I mush up all your faces." I look up to see Lucy with a horribly dark expression and a dark aura around her. I shriek and bury my face back into my book. What just happened to Lucy? What?
