You sit alone once again eating your onigiris  (rice balls). It has been just over a week since you had become a Hashira but despite that you still have yet to make a single friend, the other Hashira are terrifying and always seem occupied so you always leave them to do what they need to and make no effort to interact with them apart from the odd nod as you walk past. It was lonely but being alone wasn't all too bad, at least that's what you tell yourself.

As you quietly eat you hear heavy footsteps making their way to you and you ignore it until a voice speaks up, "ah, you are the newest Hashira. Would you mind if I eat with you?" The voice was loud as it pronounced every word with confidence. You look up at the owner of such a voice and you meet the wide eyes of the handsome flame Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku. You blink a few times before quickly scooting over and patting the floor beside you with a small, nervous smile, he sits down happily with his own onigiris. You can't bring yourself to say a word to him so you just stay quiet as he's one of the Hashira's with a strong and bold personality which you find intimidating.

Rengoku takes a bite of his onigiri before bolting out the word "umai!" Which made you jump a bit in surprise. He proceeds to do the same a few more times before noticing you staring at him, "is something the matter?" You question why he was telling between each bite and he simply replied with, "you never know when a meal will be your last, so enjoy I shout umai to help enjoy it as much as I can!" You blink a few more times, staring at him blankly, "want to give it a try? Its easy, just eat a bit of your food and then shout umai!" You look down at your food and take a nibble, then shouting "umai!" This made Rengoku's smile widen, "that was great! Put your whole heart into it, here this time I'll join you!" There's something warm and comforting about big personality and his plastered smile that makes you just want to smile too. You both eat a bit then yell "umai!" In unison, you laugh and Rengoku lets out a bold "ha ha!" And now you don't find him as scary as before so you spend the rest of your lunch (and many lunches to come) talking, laughing and shouting "umai" with the flame Hashira.
