CH 5: Friendship or Fame

[end of test week]

Ryka:The results are posted in the bulletin.

Dave:shall we go and look?

Shin: I second the motion.

they went to the hall way where the results board is located. while they were looking at the result board

Ryka:(disappointed)none of us got..first?

???: excuse me,you're blocking the way.

Ryka:oh blake, im sorry, are you here to look at the results?

Blake: nope. i'm on my way to the canteen. that's not important anyways.

Shin: He turned down Ryka, how could he?

HEY YOU BLAKE! YOU'RE BIPOLAR!

Blake:what made me bipolar?so shall I say bye guys i shall go now see you (sarcastic tone)

Shin: he really is stupid. (turned to Ryka) Are you alright?

Ryka: Yes I am(smiles)

Dave on the other hand left his friends unnoticed.He went to the rooftop to be alone.

Dave: how will I inform Dad about this?

ever since Dave was young, his dad pressured him to top on his classes for he is to be the heir of the family's company. He lived a life like a puppet until Shin and Ryka came to his life.He was in the 3rd grade when  he transferred to Q university. He got the second place after shin surpassed him in the exam.Since then he never got to be the top student in school but he had him new friends that includes Shin and Ryka, the third placer, because they were the top students they always go together attending seminars and other school activities.His father heard about him being the second placer and asked him to transfer to another school.

Dave's Dad: I heard you got the second place for the first quarter in school?

Dave: yes dad, but don't worry I can still catch up its not yet too late.

Dave's Dad: catch up?you really think that it's never too late? you started as a second placer and you'll end up as a second placer and I don't want that to happen to you that will  be a disgrace to our family.So i decided to transfer you to another school after this school year.

Dave:if that's what you want dad.(tears flow on his cheeks)

he left the room where he had a conversation with his dad and ran to his room. His yaya Nene saw him and followed him.

Yaya Nene: Dave is something wrong?

Dave:none yaya.(trying to stop himself from crying)

Yaya Nene: your lying dave. you can tell me anything.

Dave: I dont wanna transfer school I met new friends yaya and i don't wanna leave them.

Yaya:so your father wants you to transfer?and what did you said?

Dave: i said yes as long as he what he wanted.

Yaya Nene: I want you to tell your father what you really feel.

Dave:but yaya, he will be angry to me and that i dont  want to happen I know how he gets mad.

Yaya Nene: I know how you feel about that but you said you don't want to leave your friends. Dave your old enough you should start to make decisions by your own if you think it will do good for you should go for it but if you think it'll just hurt someone you know what to do already.

Dave:(sigh) i want to be with my friends

Yaya Nene:then what do you think you should do now?

Dave:I'll talk to dad.Thanks yaya you're always the best.(hugged his yaya)

he left yaya nene and head to his father's room.

Dave: (while knocking on the door)Dad, are you busy?may i talk with you for awhile.

Dave's Dad:come in son.

Dave: Dad I don't wanna transfer.I wanna treat them as my comrades. I'll strive harder.

Dave's Dad: son, I know I was too harsh to you this day, i'm sorry.If that's what you think is good for you I would respect that but you should promise me you'll never face me again as a failure.

DAve:Thanks Dad(with a very big smile on his face)

DAve's Dad: I'm glad your learning to make your own decisions son.

[present]

the words kept repeating in his mind then he started to cry.

???: you seemed so depress?

Dave:(still not looking to the one speaking) does it bother you?

???: not that much but your sitting on my place

DAve:(when he faced the person) oh...it's you Blake. I never heard from the school that someone owned the rooftop.

Blake: now you do.

Dave: as your school student's president i demand for your respect.

Blake: okay.sorry mr. president, I know what your thinking. Let me tell you this, you're lucky enough to have friends around you.

Dave:   he read my thoughts but i think his right I am contented with what I have now. My Friends made want to school everyday,they gave me strenght and showed me what is happiness..

           Thanks for making me realize.Congratulation for being the top student but beware i'll have that rank again.

Blake: tsk3...

Dave went down and searched for his friends.he saw them in the Canteen.

Shin: hey, over here!(waving his hands to dave)

Dave:i'm cominh

Ryka: you suddenly vanished awhile ago?is something wrong?

Dave:none. I just need to go to the office for my task.

Shin: being the president  is really  tiresome.

Dave:kinda, but i'm enjoying what i'm doing, so its fine.

Shin:well it's good to hear. Let's study more for the next exam and out rank that blake.

Dave:right!
