One Week Later
*Aliyah
I quickly scribbled down my name on the top right hand corner of my paper as I prepared to turn it in for a grade so that I could leave.
I was the last one to do so, as usual. I tried to hurry up and place my assignment on Professor Dunaway's desk without making any eye contact with him.
Things had been hella weird between us every since that day Tray had me moaning while I was on the phone with him. As I gathered my things from my desk to leave, I could feel his eyes burning a hole through my ass.
I always new Professor Dunaway had this secret crush on me by the way he was always extra nice to me. Hell, I didn't care! As long as he kept passing me with a good grade in his course.
And if I didn't have eyes for Tray, I probably would've given him a chance. I turned my head around to glance at him while I opened the door to leave. He flashed his white set of teeth at me and held his hand up for me to come here.
Damnit! I was not in the mood for his speeches.
"Look Professor Dunaway, I have a lot on my mind and many important things to do today so I can't talk right now, sorry."
"Wait! Aliyah give me a moment, I promise this won't take long at all." he said walking towards the doorway were I stood.
"Fine." I sighed, stepping back into the classroom. Professor Dunaway was a young, tall white guy with short brown hair, a lovely pair of green eyes, and pearly white teeth. He had expensive taste and always smelled really good ...he just talked to damn much!
"Aliyah, uh I've been trying to get you to meet with me for while now so that--"
"Not to be rude Professor, but I'd like for us to keep our relationship on a professional level with nothing more and nothing less. Okay?" I stated politely as I could, but my patience was just running a bit short.
"What?" He asked looking confused as ever.
That's when I knew I had to break it down to him.
"Mark," I began, calling him by his first name,"I've notice the way you look at me and it is definitely not the way a teacher should look at one of his students. I'm not trippin' about it but I won't be goin' on any dates with you. That's just crossin' the line and is completely unacceptable." I finished, feeling a hundred pounds lighter until he started laughing.
What the hell is so funny? I asked myself as I began backing away slowly.
I was so confused right about now, I was beginning to think that this man was officially losing his mind. When he had finally managed to stop laughin' and shit I was damn near halfway out the door.
"Aliyah where are you going? I'm not going to do anything to you. If you would've just let me finish what I was about to say, we wouldn't be having this misunderstanding.
" He said, stopping to chuckle some more,"I was telling you that I was trying to get you to meet with me to see if you were interested in buying a cheap corner business on RiverRidge Boulevard because I know you were talking in class about how you wanted to start your own physical therapy company." he said, placing his hands in his pockets and making me feel dumb ass shit.
I had actually forgotten that he was a relator/professor. At this point I had to laugh at myself too because I had just over exaggerated everything!
"Oh-Uh I'm so sorry about dat. I-I don't know what the hell I was thinkin' just then Professor. But uh...just give me a few days to umm think about it."
I said nervously.I really felt like a total idiot. Here this man was, trying to look out for me, and I was being a bitch.
"No, its fine Aliyah. Just let me know if and when you want to take me up on that offer." He said with a smirk while handing me his card.
Then he winked his eye at me and returned back to his desk. I put the card in my folder before turning around to finally leave, and as soon as I was outside, I went to cursing myself out and laughin' my ass off! I had to admit that I was real wrong and that shit was real funny.
This was actually the first time I've laughed all week and it made me feel a lil better. I was too busy stressin' about these final exams that were around the corner and my graduation was in about two weeks.
Not to mention the last time I heard from Tray was last week when he texted me the night he made me leave the hospital, saying that he didn't wanna hurt me so he was gonna have to cut me off until he finished handling his business.
Meanwhile, I still didn't know if Roscoe was dead or alive.
Sometimes I'd wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat from having nightmares about Roscoe and the other six bodies that were laying flat out in the grass, with pools of blood surrounding them.
Thinking about it again was startin' to give me the chills. I shook the vision out of my mind as I headed toward the parking lot to find my car.
When I had finally landed my eyes on it, I saw Jaz leaning against it with her arms folded across her chest.
"What's the matter Jaz?" I asked as I approached her, sensing something wrong.
She started shaking her head and then placed her hands over her face to cry.
"Jaz what the fuck is wrong?!" I asked again.
"L-L-Liyah..." she stuttered,"I just found out that R-Roscoe is in a coma."
"What?!" I screamed,"Oh my god, are you serious?"
"Don't I look serious Aliyah," she said crying harder.
"Oh my god," I said again and again, but more to myself. "Well where's Tray? Is he still at the hospital wit him?"
"I don't know, I was just about to ask you the same thing. Liyah I-I-I don't know what I'm gonna do, everything is fallin' apart for me! My grades are well below average, I might not graduate on time, I've been sick ass hell, and my babydaddy is in a coma!" Jaz complained, not aware of what she had just said.
"Wait...What??" I asked, tryin' to backtrack. She covered her mouth with her hands and widened her eyes, yeah...she knew she had just fucked up. Then she looked at me with a sad face and put her head down.
"Jasmine Desiree Philips you better tell me what the fuck you talking about!" I demanded.
Ain't no way in hell I was about to let her ass back up out of this one so she might as well confess. Jaz took a deep breath before speaking,"Liyah....I'm pregnant."* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
