Dark Minds

I was still in shock after hearing what Ikaris was thinking. Why would he kill one of his own friends?

I thought about bringing it up to Sersi, but I didn't want to cause her any more stress. Things were already tense with her and Ikaris; Sprite would always get tense whenever she saw the two of them talking. When I read her mind, I didn't expect to hear what I heard; she was in fact, in love with him. If she brought up her feelings, then tensions would continue to skyrocket, but the only other person in our group who knew was Kingo.

"Have you been hearing more thoughts?" Bucky asked me, while we were brushing up on our research about the Celestials. Anthony was learning more sign language from Makkari. "Yes, I hear them all the time," I was rubbing my forehead from where I was getting a headache. "Who knew that having the ability to read minds could be so exhausting?" I leaned my head on his shoulder and closed my eyes. "I must be close to losing my mind." "Hey, you're okay," he ran his fingers through my hair, and that soothed me. "Believe me, you're not going insane. You're a long way from going insane."

I suddenly realized what I just said and I instantly regretted it, "Bucky, I am so sorry, that was insensitive-" "Sadie, it's okay. I'm not offended." he gently lifted my face up to his. "You helped me get over my trauma; you could never offend me." he tenderly kissed me.

"I know, but I still feel bad," I snuggled next to him. "All is forgiven, babe." he stroked my hair. "Thank you," I lifted my head to face him and lovingly kissed him. "I love you." "I love you too, sweetheart."

Suddenly, I felt my mind go fuzzy and then I woke up in a strange new world. I was surrounded by galaxies and I was floating in the air. "Where am I?" my voice echoed in the air. "You are in my world." A deep warped voice echoed in response.

A giant cyborg-like figure was floating in space. He had six eyes; three on each side of his face, and he was wearing red and black armor. "I am Arishem, the Judge. I have brought you here for a reason." "Why? I'm not an Eternal, I am mortal," I told the cyborg. "I am well aware of that, but I'm even more aware of your powers you possess." Arishem raised his hand and brought me towards him, and I floated in his direction. "You gained your powers through a source that had the power of the Mind Stone, which was in Loki's staff. That makes you a key to the cause." "And what cause is that?" I was getting scared of what was happening. "To ending this planet and the Deviants."

"W-what?!" I screamed.

Before Arishem could say more, I woke up and I was back with my friends. "NOOO!!!" I screamed, I was still not full conscious. "Sadie, Sadie. It's alright." Bucky was attempting to get me to come to. I sat up while he still had me in his arms, "Bucky." I wrapped my arms around him, and tears were dripping down my face. What I saw really scared me. "I'm here, honey. I'm here." he kissed me on the forehead and rubbed my back to calm me down. "It was so scary." I sobbed.

"What did you see?" he asked curiously. "I saw this giant cyborg named Arishem, he said that Earth's time was up and I was the key to his cause." I told him.

"You saw Arishem?" Sersi interrogated me. "Yes, it was terrifying," I answered her, I would never forget the cold stare from his six eyes. "He has never spoken to a mortal before." she pondered what I told her. "I was just as shocked as you," I shrugged. "What does this cyborg want with my wife?" Bucky demanded, holding onto me. "He wants my powers," I told my husband, "Because they came from a power source that contained the Mind Stone, that's how I was able to gain them when we were in West View."

"That makes sense," Bucky replied, he still held me in his embrace so that I was able to stay calm. "This is going to sound crazy, but I don't think the Deviants are the bad guys here." I told Sersi. "What do you mean?" the Eternal replied with confusion. "I mean, yes, they're causing chaos, but they're not the danger we need to worry about." I told her. "Who should we be worrying about?"

"We should be worried about Arishem, he's going to send a Celestial to destroy Earth." that was the last bit of information I was able to get before I came to.

"What if that's not a bad thing?" Sprite had been listening in our conversation. "Why would it be a good thing?" I asked her. "Think of the new life we could start, no more humans that cause pain." what she said really terrified me. "So you're saying Bucky, Anthony, and I should be eliminated?" I was trying to clarify the cryptic response she just gave. "No, you have tried to save the world as Avengers, the humans that cause pain should be wiped out." she responded darkly.

"Sprite, we want to give people second chances; hardly anyone is born evil." after meeting all the extraordinary people I've met over the years, and have seen redemption arcs, I have never believed anyone was born bad. One of those people was Loki Laufeyson, but I had only met him once. He was just brought up in an unhealthy way and neglected by Odin. He was acting on his anger rather than managing it. I didn't understand why Sprite wanted destruction of the humans.

"I have fought in World War 2, and I have seen horrific things war does to people. We should try to make the world a peaceful place rather than destroy it," Bucky said, trying to get Sprite to listen to reason. "We're not trying to make you feel invalidated, but we just want you to see the consequences it could bring if we help Arishem go forward with his plans of armageddon." I told Sprite in a motherly way. She looked about fifteen but she had the mind of someone much older.

"I understand what you two are saying, and I'll consider it." she smiled weakly. I could tell from her thoughts that she was lying.
