It was a good thing that Bruno brought enough food for the four of us, for a week. And some spare clothes, diapers, soap, water, and blankets. And I breast fed Valerie. The bunker had cots so we reserved 3 of them, one for me and Bruno, One for Kimmie and her boyfriend, and one for the all our stuff and our baby stroller that turned into a crib. Every day the ceiling would rumble and the bombs would drop on our city. I couldn't help but wonder if they were dropping the bombs on my parents grave. Valerie got her first cold, her cough was contagious Kimmie got it and Bruno got it. I didn't. Throughout the week I would bring Valerie out to the cleaning station to give her a bath with warm water. The water turned out to be unfiltered so she got an infection, it wasn't a good week for her. The room caved into the bunker in the south wing of the bunker. Bruno was on his way there to see if his bosses sister wanted to sit with us and her brother. He ran back with two toddlers in his arms and said, "I grabbed them right before the roof caved in." The little boy was holding his sisters hand and asked "ex cuze me mister but where are I's mommy at?" Bruno gave me the look and I knew there was a slim chance that their mom was still alive. "Well", I said "why don't you come over here while we look for your mom, What are your names?" The little boy answered "I am Tommy and this is Candice." his little sister walked behind him. "And how old are you Tommy and Candice?" I asked, Im four and Candice is two and a half." Okay then why don't you come over here and have a... cupcake. "with vanilla frosting?" Candice asked, "yup" I said.
