        YOUR POV:

Four pillars stood surrounding you. On each one sat a pawn piece. The path turned from purple grass to a black and red checkered space. Checkers? Chess? You had never played either. It's not like you had anyone to play it with. With Susie, it would turn into a game of who could chuck the pieces at each other hard enough.

You liked the change of scenery, though. The trees and grass were gone, and it was back to the familiar darkness. More pawn pieces could be seen in the distance, and they lined the pathway you went along. You stepped in the squares, wary of stepping on the lines. Aside from your pessimistic outlook on the future, you had your moments of immaturity. Your humor was a prime example.

A grunt left you as you accidentally knocked into Ralsei's back. You quickly apologized and grabbed his arm before he could stumble over. So lost in the art of 'not stepping on the lines', you failed to notice Kris and Ralsei reading a sign on one of the pillars.

'When you enter the light, you'll return to where you were before.'

You looked over ahead, seeing one line of the path shine with a white light before fading and going to the next line. Susie, who didn't bother to read or wait, stepped on the glowing white. When you blinked, she was right back next to you.

"What the hell..."

"It's just going from left to right. This should be easy." You say, walking over to the path and tapping the light with your foot. In an instant, you were back next to Ralsei. You expected that, but not for a nauseous feeling to erupt from your stomach. You covered your mouth and attempted to shake off the dizzy feeling in your head.

"Okay, not a fan of that."

Kris took the lead and stepped from side to side whenever the situation called for it. They began their way down the path without a sign of struggle. The three of you quickly go to catch up, mirroring their steps. Nearing the end, you took another step forward. As soon as you placed your foot down, your vision flashed white and you were right back at the beginning.

"Oh you're kidding me." Susie grumbled, looking everywhere to find the one responsible. Her eyes landed on you. "Who did that?"

You put your hand on your chest and scoffed in mock offense. "Don't look at me like that."

"Susie, Sloth, it's not a big deal! Let's just try again!" Ralsei quickly put a stop to the conversation that was sure to build up to an argument.

You began your walk again, making sure that you paid attention to the pattern and timing of the flashing lights. This time around, all four of you made it to the end. The path was normal for a few paces but turned smaller and twisted in a wiggly way. As you went through the weird chess board, you failed to notice the pawns on the pillars hop off and trail after you.

Ralsei heard the steps, though, and he turned around. Before he could even utter the first syllable of your name, the enemy had started the encounter.

Two Ponman drew near!

A jolt shot through your body, the sudden weight of your hammer nearly making you fall over. You felt your heart skip a beat at the sudden sight of enemies. Curses left your lips, and you shook your head. You stuck your tongue out at Susie, who was snickering at your shocked expression.

Ralsei warned the enemy about Susie, and everyone went on guard. You took your defensive stance, and the Ponman's attack began.

Two diamonds from each one shot at you, and you evaded them. Occasionally, you swung your hammer to get the attacks that you couldn't avoid. None of the counter-attacks hit, but you still managed to get away without damage. Kris couldn't say the same, their soul getting scratched by one of the diamonds. A grunt of pain left them, but the injury didn't seem too bad from the glance you took.
