When my eyes opened again, the sensation of falling had stopped, in its place was a cool hard surface instead. Dust flooded my lungs as I gasped for breath, coating my throat in its suffocating haze. Coughing did little to help alleviate the discomfort as I tried to regain my strength. In all reality, it did nothing but send radiating waves of pain. Groaning, my vision began to focus on the area above me, my eyes scanning what I concluded to be a ceiling. I had never been to church before but from the depictions of one, the conclusion my brain could make through the pain and confusion was that I somehow fell into a really fancy one. Summoning my remaining strength I found the ability to sit up straight and brush off the debris I accumulated from my fall. I groaned again at the sudden rush of feeling in my head, clasping a hand to it in desperation to alleviate the haze I was stuck in. I sucked a breath through my teeth with a hiss, feeling every bruise collected from my incident.

"Are you alright?"

My head snapped in the direction of the voice, albeit a little too fast for my lightheaded current state. Several pairs of eyes were trained on me, scanning and anticipating every tiny detail I made. It seemed that the majority of these people were dressed as either nuns or knights, with the latter dawning more intricately detailed and colorful attire instead. Most of these people's expressions were either of concern, intrigue, or of stoic nature. I opened my mouth to speak but was met with a hoarse wheeze instead, the dust still having an effect on my throat. Clearing my throat in a futile attempt to reply I was met with another series of coughs, followed by a rushing headache.

"I think so." I managed between the coughing fits.

There was a pause before the coughing subsided, I reaffirmed my earlier statement with a, "yeah, I think so."

I could feel that the group of people didn't really believe me, I mean, after all, I did just fall from an unknown height into what I thought was their cathedral given the echoing of the earlier coughing episode. Not they had another choice but to believe me, albeit, with a grain of salt, they dropped the subject of my well-being.

"Do you know where you are?" The same voice from earlier questioned.

Using the question as a Segway to attempt to gain an understanding of my surroundings I began to take in where I fell to with great care. Practically drinking in every detail of the now confirmed church setting I fell into, the pieces of the puzzle became clear. Although at the time I wasn't sure how, and at the moment I didn't really care, I got somehow portaled into the Genshin Impact universe. As cheesy as it was to be in this fan fiction kind of situation, it was my reality. I just hoped I wasn't the protagonist in this world, although if we were following the cheesy fanfic route, and my unfortunate string of bad luck, I most likely was now.

"No, I don't think so." I played along in a lie.

In a small wave of newfound courage, I slowly found my way on my feet, careful to not provoke any of the charact-i mean knights and company from believing me to be their enemy. I rubbed my temples in the feeble attempt to rid this stubborn and seemingly endless headache.

"You either do or you don't, which is it?" A new voice proclaimed.

I locked eyes with its source, the famous red-haired ill-tempered bartender master Diluc. His sudden and harsh introduction did nothing to help the situation, pain, or my soured mood.

"No, I don't." I bit back my tongue to silence a snappy addition to the sentence.

I didn't exactly need to make enemies with anyone this early, especially anyone who could easily kick my ass with or without a vision. But given enough of a reason to, I might just be a little bit more daring in my responses. With all due respect, I did just fall from the sky and survived crashing through a roof, I think I can tango with death a little longer for the sake of entertainment and morbid curiosity. It's not like I pose a threat to these people anyway.

"What is your name?" This time it was the original voice from earlier, its owner being none other than that of the acting grandmaster Jean.

Meeting her gaze brought a much different and better feeling than Diluc's narrowed, scalding gaze. Hers was lighter, warmer, and held a touch of concern.

"Y/n. Just, Y/n" I kept my response short.

A part of me wanted to be more open, more honest, more friendly, but something dark kept a hold on my heart. Its grip like iron, unrelenting and searingly hot, I had no choice but to be blank and blunt, no emotion, just stoic. I'll play along for now I thought to myself, then maybe I can figure out how to fix this mess I'm in.

"It's nice to meet you Y/n, my name is Jean, and I am the acting grand master of the knights of favonius. I am the protector of Mondstat, the city in which you fell into." Jean replied, keeping her warm and inviting aura ever so bright.

"Since we started our introductions allow me to start next," the tall blue-haired flirtatious calvary captain himself stepped forward, "I'm Kaeya, knights of favonius, humor me for a moment will you?"

His voice practically was dripping with honey, clearly, he was enjoying all of this commotion taking place, it was obvious given the hard-to-miss twinkle in his one eye.

"Sure, not that I have much of a choice." I shrugged, and it was half true, I really didn't have a choice.

Kaeya smirked, his arms folded across his chest, "Ever since you've graced us with your fall, the sky has been pitch black. Normally that doesn't pose an issue but there's quite an anomaly to this situation."

"And that would be?" My response came a bit too quick for my liking, but to be fair that gnarly headache still pounded away. I internally winced, whether it was from the increase in pain or from my response didn't matter. All I knew was I was a cornered animal, surrounded on all sides by predators eager to attack with questions.

A pause, before Kaeya narrowed his icy gaze, " The problem is that it's the middle of the afternoon, care to explain that?"
