"(Y/N)..." Hagakure shook her sleeping friend's shoulders, bemused when she whined and burrowed her face further into her arms. "Were you up all night studying for Snipe's math test again?" It was five minutes to the start of homeroom in class 1-A, yet the air was buzzing with anticipation as students gossiped and laughed loudly. (Y/N) couldn't expect anything less, for their first Valentines Day in high school.
(Y/N) turned her head to stare up at Hagakure. Her friend snorted when she saw (Y/N)'s face, and Hagakure covered her mouth in laughter. "You look like- you look like-"
"You look like you scribbled lipstick over your eyes," Bakugo snarled. (Y/N) jolted in alarm and took out her compact mirror. She yelped in surprise when she saw eye bags, dark enough to give Shinso a run for his money.
"What even happened?" Hagakure giggling. A sudden burst of 'ooh!'s and laughter made them turn around towards the direction of the commotion. An unfamiliar girl from general education was rushing back outside the classroom, her face burning. She seemed to have put a box of chocolates on Kirishima's desk... which was already overflowing with chocolates from other admirers, actually.
"Kirishima's really popular," Hagakure chortled. A less delighted Kaminari was foaming at the mouth with jealousy. "D'you think it's because of the Sports Festival or... because his costume is... shirtless?" She winked at (Y/N) (not that she could have seen it). But (Y/N) was pale as a sheet. Hagakure followed her gaze to the boxes of chocolates on Kirishima's desk.
"Oh," Hagakure said in a hushed voice. (Y/N) flushed up to her neck and quickly averted her gaze. "Did you bring chocolates for him too?" A hot wave of embarrassment washed over (Y/N).
During their hero agency internship in the fall, she and Kirishima had both interned with Fatgum and were with him during the raid on the Shie Hassaikai. With her Force-Field quirk and his Hardening, she and Kirishima took blow after blow with ease as they ran down Rappa with Fatgum.
When Kirishima dove in front of Fatgum to take Rappa's punches, she saw how his armor was literally cracking into pieces. Next to Kirishima, she laid a thick protective barrier over his hardened skin so that his skin wouldn't crumple like paper. Their combined armor was enough so that Kirishima could remain upright, but Rappa realized what was going on. She couldn't dodge in time, and
When she blearily woke up on a stretcher, her first thought was Kirishima. In pain, she weakly fought off the oxygen mask that was blocking part of her vision when a calloused hand clasped her own.
