so this is the result of me trying to brainstorm for ideas and this arose. Please enjoy. I wrote this in like 30 minutes lmfao))The giant and the faerie were just fiddling around.
The two had left to spend the day together that morning and currently the two were just chilling in a meadow. Drole is at his full height, Gloxinia vibing on his shoulder. He's enthusiastically telling a story about slaying a great beast(that Drole watched him do).
Gloxinia smiles as a breeze runs through the meadow. He climbs over to Drole's neck and curls up right there.
"Holy hell, Glox. You are so cold!" Drole exclaims, the faerie blowing raspberry at the giant.
"Don't you move me-" Gloxinia is cut off as Drole picks up the faerie and holds him in his hands. "Okay- this is nice." Gloxinia cuddles up in Drole's hands.
"You could also just wrap up in emerald octo." Drole says, encasing his fingers around Gloxinia so the faerie is trapped in a chamber of heat.
"But where's the fun in that?!" Gloxinia shouts, Drole chuckling in response.
The two fall into a comfortable silence as another cold breeze blows through the meadow.
"Spirit spear Basquias, tenth configuration. Emerald Octo." Gloxinia says. Green tendrils wrap around Gloxinia, encasing the faerie. The vines give off low amounts of heat, but it's enough to keep the cold off of the faerie's bare chest.
"Hey. I know today is supposed to be full of cuddles and happiness, but can I know why you flinch at a lot of stuff? I noticed it a few millennia ago, but could never find the time to ask." Gloxinia goes silent as Drole gets a questioning look on his face.
"I know it's not the visible, but you forget that I've known you for almost my entire life. I know what to look for when you're upset. I notice even the slightest flinch." Gloxinia says, wiggling a hand out of emerald octo's vines and wrapping it around Drole's thumb.
"In all honesty.." Drole begins, taking his index finger and gently rubbing it against Gloxinia's head. "I'm not sure why I do it. It's probably something that happened me when I was younger. I guess I just forgot it.." Drole says, a small frown resting on his face.
In reality, Gloxinia knows why he does it. He was "lucky" enough to see what happened to his giant boyfriend in his childhood.
It's all a little fuzzy, but he remembers flying by and witnessing an abnormally large blue skinned giant being pushed around by their mother. He had watched from the trees, unsure of what to do. At first he thought "Well maybe the child deserved it" but he realized that no child deserves to be hit and pushed around. But Gloxinia is also a small bit uneducated when it comes to parenting. Not many faeries grow up with parents, so Gloxinia doesn't know what it's like to have a parent. Monspeet was like a dad or older brother to him, and he was more attached to Monspeet than he'll admit.
Gloxinia had flown off, not expecting that giant to ever appear back in his life. The faerie still regrets not doing anything, and the guilt only increased when he actually became friends with Drole.
"I know why you do it." Gloxinia admits, his cold fingers holding onto Drole's thumb.
Drole cocks his head. "Then why did you ask?" Drole questions, gently rubbing his finger on Gloxinia's head.
"Because I wanted to be sure I was right.. I hate what I did then. I wish I could go back and help." Gloxinia says a bit sadly. No tears draw to his eyes, but he truly sounds like he's going to cry.
"I'm sure you did nothing wrong, my love. Let's just leave it at that and be on with it, alright?" Drole says, leaning forward and planting a gentle kiss on the top of Gloxinia's head.
Gloxinia shakes his head. "Your mother was.. an awful person. I watched her hurt you.. I didn't do anything.. I felt frozen.. I don't know why..." Gloxinia says. Drole lifts his hand up to his face.
"Gloxinia. The past is the past. To move on we must let go of the past. It's good that you feel remorse for what you did, but you were young. I was young. Let's just leave it at this, and continue the day, alright love?" Drole says, smiling gently.
Gloxinia laughs, his cold fingers reaching up and booping Drole's nose. "Alright. I think I can do that."
