"No, Let's Do This." She spoke with so much determination it gave me whiplash. I gave a brief nod and before I knew it she grabbed my hand sending sparks through my arm and as I took her to the Loft I noticed how she seemed to look back once before steeling herself as we walked closer to our destination.
Chapter 17:
Evangeline PoV:
Now:
The walk to the door of the loft was a lot shorter than I wanted it to be, with every step I took a bigger sense of foreboding and nervousness filled me, my legs felt weighed down and with every step we took the more difficult it was for me to walk.
As we neared the door Scott turned his head to me and mouthed 'are you ready' so that the supernatural in the room couldn't hear. I took in a deep inaudible breath and steeled myself, giving him a fierce nod before I could back out.
I waited with my breath held for Scott to open the door that could potentially ruin the best thing that had happened to me in a long time. I suddenly felt a hand slot into mine and tightly squeezed my hand in reassurance. It made my lips twitch upwards slightly from the slight buzz that just having his hand in mine gave me. He reached with his other hand to the rusted doorknob.
He slowly opened the run down door and I was greeted to the sight of a worried pack. Time seemed to slow down as I scanned the room. There wasn't much in the space barely enough to cover Derek's necessities and yet with barely anything there it seemed to fit Derek's personality to a T. My eyes were immediately drawn to the huge window directly opposite where I had entered. As I looked to the left slightly I saw a spiral staircase and my curiosity was eating me up to know what was up there. To the right of the room was a broken down wall which led to another space the wall seemed to have been purposefully opened. There was nothing in the space on the other side of the wall from what I could see which made me wonder why Derek had opened it up. There was very little furniture in the loft, a bed, couch, table and chairs but that was it.
After my quick scan of the room I began to look at the people in the room. I could see Derek, Isaac, Jackson and Aidan surrounding the table which I could only guess was the place where the pack made their plans and strategized. On the couch were Kira, Liam and Allison as Malia stood next to it, they were all chatting quietly about something that I couldn't be bothered to use my supernatural hearing to hear. In front of the couch was Stiles pacing back and forth with Lydia trying to calm him down.
Time sped up again as everyone's head snapped up to see me and Scott in the doorway however it seemed like they all had tunnel vision due to the fact that no one was questioning my appearance. In a blink Stiles had made his way to Scott and gave him a quick bro hug before pulling back and looking at Scott with concerned eyes. In that moment I realised just how long it had taken me and Scott to get here and it seems I wasn't the only one as Scott had a look of realisation in his eyes.
"Scott, where were you dude." Stiles asked with worry in his eyes and a concerned hand on his shoulder. It seemed everyone else wanted to know as their eyes zeroed in on Scott more. It was almost laughable that a group of super naturals, a hunter and a paranoid human had not yet noticed her presence in the room. It was clear that they weren't that vigilant at the moment and I was honestly curious how long it would take them to figure out I was there without Scott's help.
"Sorry Stiles didn't mean to scare you but we got a bit held up." Scott spoke. As the words were spoken it seemed that everyone in the room suddenly became aware of my presence and instead of the worried eyes being directed at Scott there was a tense look in them and they were directed at me. There was a brief pause before Derek's distinct voice cut through the silence that had ensued.
"What is she doing here?" Derek spoke in a grumbled tone. I could tell that it wasn't meant to offend me but more of a question as to why a person who they thought was human and had no idea of the supernatural was at their pack meeting. The pressure of their stares was getting to me and after a while I couldn't help but blurt out something that would change my relationship with these people forever.
"I know what you are." I spoke and the regret that followed was instant. I cursed myself in my head. I could have gone about this so much easier but I just had to blurt out that sentence. Their reaction was instantaneous as their eyes widened with shock and if it was possible they tensed more. I watched as Scott's eyes closed tightly, clearly cringing at the way it had blurred from my mouth.
In an instant everything had devolved into chaos, as people began to scream different questions over each other in panic.
Some of them were clearly operating in fear, others in anger and if I hadn't been their friend before this I'm pretty sure Derek would have already shifted.
The chaos ensued for another few minutes, everything was getting louder and the more people yelled the more Evangeline began to panic. She was scared that she would end up in another panic attack and with those thoughts she panicked even more.
Nobody had noticed the panicked body of Evangeline. Nobody except Scott. His thoughts flashed back to what had happened only minutes ago in the car and with that Scott couldn't help but to roar everyone into submission.
The room became silent as nobody could overcome the command of a true alpha.
Shock circled around the room as they realised this had been the first ever time Scott had used his title to control them.
There was a tense moment in the room before Scott sighed in exasperation and with a meek voice spoke.
"Listen, Please just let her explain." The weakness and defeat in Scotts voice caused the others to forget about the way he just used his alpha status against them, and prepare for Evangeline's explanation.
"It started after school...
