I reached out my hand to the side drawer to stop that annoying sound of my alarm , checked for any messages from Mubarak but none ,weird I thought, let me sleep for another 20 minutes I thought and cuddled my body more inside the duvet and went back to my beauty sleep.
    After some minutes I started hearing some banging noise, it kept on growing louder , when I got tired of it I finally decided to wake up and shot back at the person by the door annoyed
" wHO IS THERE, BREAK THE STUPID DOOR THEN" I said pulling myself out
" anty shaheeda it's me mairo , hajiya said I should come and wake you up for your classes sorry " she said sounding scared
I felt bad for her " okay thanks tell her I'm not lat................." I stopped midway as I checked my phone  "GODDdd " I half yelled as I made my way to the bathroom like my pants were on fire, I was 1 hour late to my test which I would have started by now " I'm done for "  I got ready in twenty minutes and I was down stairs I greeted my mom and dashed out of the house I could hear her calling me for breakfast but nahhhh , I quickly opened my car and sped up like my life depended on it
    "I'm so sorry sir , I had car trouble on my way to school " I pleaded with our NSC lecturer clearly lying to get another chance for the test
" sir please give her another chance, it won't repeat itself " my besty pleaded with the man . After much persuasion, he finally rescheduled time for me
" heedahh why are you so unserious this semester "  nanah wined as we made our way out of the class " ke wallahi you won't understand I decided to sleep for just twenty minutes fah, don't worry I'll be more serious, where's Mubarak? I haven't seen him "  yeah as y'all might have guessed he's my boyfriend and he kinda works here *smiles* " lover girl, he might be in the cafeteria I didn't see him too" she said giving me that annoying look, just then he called , "speak of the devil" she muttered under her breath " hey b, where are you?" I said so excited , yeah he has that effect on me.
" I'm outside school I have some things to take care of , I'll come pick you up later we need to talk it's very important " he said
" okay I'll be done by four what's...." I was saying when the line went off, I looked at my phone shocked
" what's wrong ?"
" I don't know he just cut me off and he said we need to talk sounding so serious, I hate this suspense you know how curious I am" I said partially annoyed and angry at him
" don't worry nothing serious yunno how Mubarak can be " nana said giving me a smile as we made our way to our next class.

" nanah Mubarak is here , I'll leave my car keys with you, take my car home since yours is at the mechanics" I said handing her the keys "I'm still getting bad feelings bout what Mubarak has to say but if it's one of his tricks then he's going to hear from me " I said counting the odds of it in my head giving her a little fake smile
" ke bakomai fah( its nothing) byee catch you up later " she said urging me to go
I spotted his car and made my way there , pulled the door and sat in the passenger's seat ," heyyy Baracks "  I said smiling, that's what I call him when I'm trying to tease him, he normally reply's me with my hoody or heedah na but today nothing just a small  hi , no jokes . The ride was extremely quiet  and kinda awkward. Finally ,he pulled up at the destination, it was a cafe located in the streets of wuse2 which I'm not familiar with. We made our way inside and sat at the table in the corner of the cafe , the waitress greeted us and brought the menu , we placed our orders then she left and I decided to break the silence " Mubarak this suspense is killing me , what's wrong?? Talk to me , why are you so distant??" I said
" shaheedah honestly I don't really know where to start , everything's just so .... GODD" he said " remember I told you bout this girl my dad wanted me to get married to.." he paused looking at me not sure if he should continue and I knew it, the exact words that will come out of his mouth, i dreaded to her them yet deep down I knew they were inevitable " I'm getting married to her next month......"
  That's it, that was all I needed to hear before I walked out of the cafe stumbling as I walked down the busy streets not knowing where I was headed to.
