Tw/Cw: reader is having a panic attack/had a flashback. Also as you may or may not have read in the description I am super crap at writing fluffy/happy stuff. So if it's bad or cringe or something then that's why idrk what I'm doing

You awoke in a cold sweat, shaking uncontrollably, your chest tight. You hated this. How much longer did you need to put up with it? Every time your closed your eyes, trying to fall asleep, something that was supposed to be restful and pleasant, you were faced with yet another nightmare, another flashback, another restless night. Your eyes darted around your room. If you had to guess it was probably around...4 in the morning? You could barely make out the end of your bed because it was so dark.

You tugged your duvet up to your face and squeezed it, hoping to gain some kind of comfort from it, your heart still beating out of your chest. Your eyes began to brim with tears, which ran over your cheeks and dripped onto the fabric in your hands. Why did it have to be like this - the memory was painful enough as it was, you didn't have to relive it. As more and more tears poured down your face, your sobs became louder too.

You heard the door creak open slightly. You froze, still unable to make anything out in the darkness. To be fair though, the tears weren't doing you any favors.

'Gumdrop?' False alarm. Your shoulder's relaxed a little. You whispered back a 'yeah?', though it probably sounded like a sock was stuck in your throat. You were so tired. And you'd been crying, after all. The lights flashed on with the click! of a switch, blinding you, your field of vision flooded with white. Wilford, upon seeing your state, began to make his way towards you, carefully sitting on the end of your bed trying not to crush your feet in the process. Now that you could see him in the light he looked pretty tired as well. He must have been asleep beforehand, his eyes only half-open.

'You okay?' His voice was quiet and gentle. He didn't need to worry about you, you thought. He had been asleep before and you had had the audacity to wake him up?! You nodded you head, forcing a smile. You didn't want to burden him with your problems. He would have believed you...had it not been for your pink swollen eyes and your wet face. You knew it wouldn't convince him, but you just wanted him to go away.

'C'mere.' He spoke, his voice barely audible. He wasn't asking. You didn't have a choice in this. You shuffled slightly closer to him, so that you were about a foot away from him. The moment that you were within reach, he pulled you into a massive bear-hug.

'It's okay.' He whispered, rubbing circles into your back as you cried into his shoulder.

'Everything's going to be okay. I'm here.'
