chapter 1
They say people your heart skips a beat when you see someone you love. I read that in a book once. I walked down the small streets of Kamakura it was a small village that had many tourists come by lot. I was walking to school when I saw her thick black hair, pale skin, brown-tinted eyes, blood-red lips. I wish I didn't see her but I did.
She walked by and stared at me with a smile, I smiled back. And continued walking later catching up with my friends Akari and Hiroto "Wait up"! I yelled. They turned back and Akari ran to me like she hadn't seen me in years, she hugged me tight "Where were you Haru?"! She said almost crying. "I was sick for a while," I said while almost tripping over her feet. "We missed you Haru," Hiroto said smiling. We walked down as Akari was asking me a billion questions. But I didn't hesitate to answer them because she was my friend, right?
I felt like Math class was a billion hours but as I walked out, I saw her again. The girl with thick black hair, pale skin, brown-tinted eyes, blood-red lips. She saw me and waved with that same smile that mesmerized me when I first saw her. She motions me to come closer and I do. We walk to our class laughing and joking "My name is Hakura and yours"? She says tilting her head towards mine. "Oh-" I say almost tripping "It's Haru." She smiles and waves goodbye as we reach her class. I walk down the empty hallways to my next class and then I see Akari "Who was that?" she says, almost angry. "Oh, that's Hakura, she's new here and I saw her on the way to school," I said clumsily dropping one of my books. "Why didn't you let me meet her? You should invite her to hang out with us tomorrow "she squeaked. "I'm sorry I didn't know," I said, patting her head.
I walked home that day lost in my thoughts about her. "You alright"? My mom said struggling with her chopsticks. "Yes, I'm fine" I objected to handing her a fork. I had met Hakura. I didn't know much about her; she didn't talk much about herself.
It was Saturday morning and I had a job at the nearby market. As I was stocking the shelves something caught my eye on the other side of the shelf was her, Hakura...
Chapter 2
I watch as she walks by. Next to Akari laughing she waves but I look away. I need to convince myself one thing I can't fall for her. I keep walking until I reach the cherry blossom tree. I stand on the bridge as I watch the sunset. "Haru"? Says a soft voice from behind. I turn back and it's Hakura. "Are you mad at me? I'm sorry if I've done anything wrong-" she says in the cold air she's trembling. I rush over and give her my jacket before she passes out. "Hakura wake up!" I say with all the guilt I have for letting her pass out. She finally wakes up, her eyes shining in the moonlight. I look at her, she's crying. "No, you didn't do anything wrong" I softly said while comforting her.
I sat in class having a staring contest with the clock as it hit 12 and the bell rang, I got up and saw Akari's irritated face. "What's wrong"? I sigh. "You like her, don't you?" she says with tears in her eyes. "Akari no I don't-." I stammer. "No, it's fine Haru," she says as she turns around and walks quickly to her next class, I can see her tears falling from her soft rosy cheeks.
I didn't see Akari for a week. That's when I saw her parents outside with a moving truck and Akari outside with her pet cat stroking his fur. When she looked up, she saw me she smiled and ran into the house. Her parents looked up and waved. I waved back with my weak smile.
I opened the bento box my mother made for me. She begged me yesterday to let her make it but she insisted. I stared at the cold rice and curry. I eat the curry watching the petals of the cherry blossoms fly away. I see her walking up to me "Thank you for last night I wanted to give your jacket back." "I- you can keep it" I blurted out. She looks at me then smiles that same smile.

"Daiki," he said, staring into my eyes with his blue eyes glistening in the sun. I watched as Akari walked by. " Akari'! I yelled at the top of my lungs. She turned around looking cold and as if she witnessed something terrible. She gave me a weak smile and ran back to her class.
