Christian
The sun is just just beginning to rise as we round the bend of the next street. My chest heaves slightly as I look over at Leers, her face brushed with color.
It's been a week since we told our families we were dating, and things have been better than ever. Like I had guessed, no one had a problem with it, well, except Fern for not telling her sooner. I earned a smack from that one.
"Hey... can we... stop for a second?" she asks, coming to a complete stop next to me.
Thank goodness.
"Please, yes." I reply, my hands leaning on my hips as I try to catch my breath.
We've been jogging together for probably a little over 30 minutes straight, and both of us have just begun to tire. My break from hockey over this summer has taken me a little far from my normal fitness level, something I'll have to work on before going to college.
"I need to lie down... but... the side of the road probably isn't the safest place so... can we just... go down this side street to the beach...?" Lera voice asks again as she stands doubled over.
I don't reply, instead just moving to squat in front of her, motioning for her to jump onto my back. She only groans once before obliging.
"You don't have to carry me, you know." She says as she rests her head on my shoulder sleepily.
"I can't have my girl getting too tired." I reply simply, to which I feel her softly kiss where her head is resting. I'll never get sick of that.
I attempt to walk down the side street as quickly as possible, the longing to soothe my exhaustion calling my name. My feet transition from the hard pavement to the soft sand, my whole body letting out a deep sigh. I lift Lera down softly onto the awaiting sand, before collapsing in it myself, my legs and arms askew in different directions. My sore muscles sink into the sand, before I feel another weight falling into my chest.
Geez, I had to carry the girl here and now she has to lie on top of me? No complaints though...
Regardless, I lengthen my arm to pull her in closer to my chest, so her heads resting comfortably. My hand finds its way to her head, tangling themselves in her ever perfect hair.
God, I'm so in love with her it's scary. I almost didn't believe it when she told me she loved me, it felt like I was dreaming. The whole idea that the girl I've been in love with, the girl who couldn't stand to be around me because of how stupidly I treated her was in love with me didn't seem real. So much has changed between us this summer, but I wouldn't swap it for anything in the world. Being around her in this way has only made my feelings stronger, and I think I would've gone mad if none of this had ended up happening. Its like now that I've finally caught her, I can't seem to get enough of her. Her whole being is like an enchanting spell, where you're unable to think of anything but her.
I bend my neck down to kiss the top of her forehead suddenly, the thoughts rushing through my head taking over my actions. I feel her kiss my chest in response, before her fingers begin to trace the outlines of my body, her fingertips smooth against my skin. Her hands move slowly to rest underneath my jaw, as she lifts her head from my chest, her mysterious eyes staring up at me. I tuck my left arm underneath my body, to prop myself up so I can look at her better.
She is truly the most beautiful person I have ever met. I've known it ever since I first met her, that she's the only one I could ever have the privilege to love and cherish. She makes me better, the person I need to be, and I can't thank her enough for that. If only she knew how much of an impact she has on me.
