Leaves

"Look at those leaf piles. Let's jump into them!"

He let go of my hand and started running towards the leaves. He's so adorable. Warmth crept my heart once again. "Hey, wait up," I ran after him.

He started throwing the leaves into the air, laughing. His smile gave me butterflies. Looking at him happy, made me happy too. He was healthy and active. He was the man I loved.

"Y'know.. Fall is actually my favorite season."

"Oh? Why's that?" I giggled.

"The colors are so soothing. Although it's chilly, the sun still shines. We met in fall, remember?"

He stopped to look at me, with that warm smile. My chest felt heavy, but in a good way. I felt like I wanted to cry tears of joy. I felt so warm inside. "Of course I remember. It was the greatest day ever."

I could feel his gaze soften, as he walked towards me. He wrapped his arms around me, kissing the top of my forehead. It felt warm again, despite the cool temperatures.

"I'll spend many falls with you till my last, and that's a promise."

I looked up at him. His eyes were so serious. The aura suddenly felt tight. My stomach started twinging. My breathing slowed down. I was unsure why.
