Chapter 5

Emily sat looking out the window to the castle. She saw Atticus walk out with a paper in hand. Atticus came and at down across for Emily. Then the carriage started to go.

"What with the paper?"

Emily said with a smile. Atticus looked up from his paper to Emily.

"I have to make a few stops to some places. You could do whatever you want well I get somethings."

Atticus said. Emily nodded her head looking out the window and crossing her arms. Atticus keep seeming to keep looking over the paper again and again. Soon they where in town and came to there first top a drug store as Atticus went in with a maid Emily walked around looking in a diamond store at nickels and rings. When Atticus was done he had the maid carry the bag and put it in the carriage. Then Atticus when to where Emily was walking in looking around. Emily spotted Atticus standing there and quickly got out walking back to the carriage. They left and stoped at two more drug stores and one plant store. There was now four bags from drug stores and two bags from the plant store. As the carriage went Emily keep looking at the bugs in questions. Atticus looked out the window then quickly stood up jumping out of the moving carriage. The carriage suddenly stopped making Emily lose thought of the bags and look to where Atticus was. Emily got out of the carriage and looked around to see Atticus go into a store. Emily followed behind not looking a where they where going. When Emily got in she was meet with a lot of candy and sweets everywhere. There where cupcakes and so much candy around. Emily walked around amazed to all the candy as she did Atticus went looking around coming to a jar of hard honey candy he picked up the whole jar and took it to the front desk the woman work there looked to Atticus amazing to see him. The woman smiled being of course happy to see how many hard honey candy that where. She even got out a box of 100 hard honey candy. As she went one by one seeming how many there was Atticus went over to Emily who was looking at this cake pop shaped into a yellow star. Atticus smiled grabbed the yellow star cake pop and a normal size circle one. Emily looked to Atticus as the both walked to the desk. Atticus put the cake pops down and the worker put 151 hard honey candy down then the two cake pops ending up to be around 40.00 dollars. Atticus gave her a gold coin that was small then grabbed the bag of hard honey candy and the two cake pops. Atticus left the store with Emily following behind. They got into the carriage and they where off again. Atticus handed Emily her star cake pop and he opens his eating it in one bit. Emily didn't open her cake pop looking to Atticus.

"You didn't have to buy me a cake pop. To be real I didn't think I can even repay you back for this."

Emily said seeming a bit sad to have the cake pop now. Atticus finished up his cake pop and smiled.

"What who says you have to repay me. This is my repayment for you coming with me. Now eat your star I know that as soon as you take a bit your be happy."

Atticus said looking out the window. Emily took a bit of her star and just like her said she turned very happy and eat the whole thing. The carriage came to a stop and Emily looked out the window to see a foster house for kids. Atticus and Emily got out looking around the place was standing but looked very old the white paint was gray and muddy the places for flowers and grass where just mud. An the windows and door where cracking and old. Atticus still keep smiling as he walked throw the gate black gate that squid. Emily followed carefully behind not smiling being nervous to even be there. They went throw the mud on the sidewalk and came to the front door the two maids who where driving the carriage picked up some bags and carried them. Atticus knocked on the door with a smile. To be answered by a little boy who was nervous but when he looked to see Atticus standing there he smiled opening the door an hugged Atticus. The boy was covered in mud and blood Atticus picked up the boy holding him in his arms. Atticus pushed the door open walking in to see many kids all bloody and muddy. The kids pulled Atticus along the hallway pass doors that Emily looked in to see other kids in bed sick. Finally the came to a door at the end and opened it Atticus walked into a big room with beds of workers who where sick. Atticus put the boy down and the kids went around with blankets and towels that where put in water. The kids went around washing the walls, the floors an beds. Atticus didn't smile any longer and walking across to a bed holding a girl with a towel on her head. Emily stood at the foot of the bed as Atticus took the towel off and felt the head of her. Atticus looked to the two maids who put a table up and put the bags of things on it. Atticus stood up and went over to the table and started to mix somethings together. Emily watch Atticus in questions before Atticus gave her a bowl and told her to mix it.

"If you don't mind me asking. Why are we here of all places? Why does everyone look like rats that just eat someone."

Emily said. Atticus didn't answer for a bit as he started handing bowls to the maids they also started mixing things up. Atticus looked to Emily.

"I found a group of them out on the streets they where looking throw trash cans and eating whatever they could. I just had happened to find one of there groups and followed them here to find this mess of a place. I made a promise that I would come back and help."

Atticus said grabbed a bowl and walking over to one of the people of the bed. He woke them and made them drink the soup. The time went by Atticus, Emily, and the maids mixed bowls of medicine by the time they where done and used all the things it was dark an the kids and everyone where a sleep in blankets. The maids where tired and where about to fall asleep as they sat waiting for Emily and Atticus in the cold. Emily was at the door looking back to see Atticus get handed some small coins from a boy. Atticus took the money and walked over to Emily. Emily and Atticus stoped when coming to the carriage they looked up to the two maids to see them a sleep. Atticus got up there taking both of the maids and put them in the carriage. Atticus sat up front along with Emily who sat there just because. As the carriage started to go Emily looked to the dark sky.

"Hey Atticus, you know this is the first time in a long time we hanged out. This is also the first time you seem to talk with me."

Emily said seeming a bit sad but happy. Atticus keep watching the road not smiling.

"Don't get normal to it. This just happened to be a day I needed help with."

Atticus said as home after home went by. Emily still looked up to the sky to see the moon.

"Atticus try not to fall down below. I don't want to see you turn into a monster like father."

Emily said looking forward an seeing the castle. There was only one light on an that was on the second floor. Atticus handed the ropes to Emily and went over to the light he closed it and opened it a few time the other light did the same and Atticus sat down. The light from the castle turned off.

"What you say?"

Emily asked in questions. Atticus took back the ropes pulling them a bit to slow down the houses.

"I asked if they where up. They said no. So we should be able to get in throw the front doors."

Atticus said with a little said. Emily crossed her arms being cold.

"Who was that. It couldn't had been mother or father there room it next door. An it couldn't had been a maid no normal maid would know code."

Emily said starting to freeze. Atticus looked over and put the ropes down taking off his top layer of his nice royal outfit. He put it around Emily who smiled and said thank you. Atticus sat down grabbing the ropes again.

"Let's just say there a friend who had decided to help me. We made a deal they would help me be able to do things at night and in return they can stay in the house."

Atticus said as Emily put her head on him and started falling asleep. Atticus slowed down more and they went off home.
