Mark had still not realized what the two shared, whether in was compulsion to live together and treat eachother well or if it harboured something far more deeper than just affection built upon an arranged marriage. He watched his wife undress himself, the flawless smoothness of the healed skin making him warm inside. As Donghyuck pulled on one of his many night shirts and trousers he turned to look at the older.
"Pervert! Stop staring at me!" Donghyuck blushed a dark crimson, was he really acting? No he wasn't, he wasn't faking anything. His emotions were raw, virgin and precious that it weighed the older down.
"Your moles are beautiful." Mark blurted out, it literally made the King scream but he hated the fact that when dawn would break this handsome man would lead his army to a battle ground known to none.
"Must you go?" Donghyuck bit his lips, he let his trousers fall to the ground as he padded towards his husband, he knelt on the bed first, his arms holding Marks shoulders for support, the olders arms feeling his waist as his left leg was lifted, he straddled the dark haired boy on the bed.
"A gentleman keeps his promises." Mark whispered.
"I-I can't sleep alone.......She doesn't let me." The King's lips quivered, Mark wrapped his arms around the hummingbird like waist as he hid his face inside his wife's chest.
"Baby I'll be back before you know it. I promise. I'll try my best to stay alive for you. Okay?" Mark looked up, their lips finding their fated partner. They were in a bond they didn't understand, but were willing to let it grow.
As morning dawned, Donghyuck stood before his army, led by his husband, with a heavy heart he'd have to send him away to save their neighbouring nation. His mother's didn't speak a word to him, nor did his brother, he would he alone, yet not keeping a promise is like committing treason. He nodded, as Mark boldly came closer to him, kissing his forehead he gave those trembling lips a long lingering kiss before he mounted his horse and the Knights left the kingdom gates with their army if men following.
"I hope Renjun and Mark return save." Doyoung prayed, so did Kun. Donghyuck, the King remained silent, with a distant vague of fear nipping at his thawing heart.
Taeyong was shocked when the King crashed into his arms, crying. Donghyuck cried for hours, not knowing why he missed his husband so much. He seemed so lonely and lost, suddenly felt cornered, like a King in exile. No one knew if the men would return as how they left, everyone's prayers would certainly bring them home, so they believed.
"You need to believe if you want it to come true sweetie." Taeyong smiled, Jaehyun and Mark both were amongst those who had departed today, agony, fright and agitation welling within him made him sick, sadly he was a mother and responsibilities had him going.
Mark wiped a tear that rolled down his left eye as they rode to their destination, why was it so hard to leave those quivering orbs, the warmth of the body, the sound of that laugher. Donghyuck in general. Legends say that the first tear that falls from the left eye is often from sorrow.
"Baby is it me or are you doing something to me?" Mark gritted his teeth, his horse sensing his panic in her owners heart.
"I can't believe I'm leaving Shotaro when he's pregnant. I just hope I don't end up dying on my wife and child." Sungchan mumbled to himself, which Mark happened to over hear.
"We are going far away from home. It's not guaranteed that we'll return, but we shouldn't loose hope." Ordered Mark as they continued to ride.
The King sat at his drawing room window that over looked the entire kingdom. He was waiting, unknown to him he wanted Mark to annoy him, to kiss him breathless, to slap him atleast, to slam him, to touch him like he meant it. He just wanted his husband so much it was killing him within.
"Hyung.....You have eaten in days. Mark hyung wouldn't want that." Chenle sat before his King, his arm patting the cold golden arm.
"Why does it feel so heavy? Why does my heart hurt?" The brunette wiped his gushing tears, it just wouldn't stop.
"You know? At first when Junnie was nice to me I thought that was his nature. But when he saved me from you each day, he'd worry over my wounds and scars. I started depending on him, he tried everything to make me happy, to give me more than I asked for. Hyung..........It's not my place to tell you what you feel but I felt the same when Renjun went aboard for education. I missed him like crazy. Hyung Mark will come back, I'm sure he will. Now eat." Chenle bossed Donghyuck about, the older let him do so because he was emotionally drained.
Night fell for where ever Mark was, they had stopped for a break. He remembered the boy he left behind, he was aware all these men remembered their boys and girls, their little sons and daughters. Jaehyun squeezed his son's arm, a silent why asked from the young fellow.
"I just feel empty. His tear filled eyes won't stop disturbing my thoughts father." Mark ruffled his own hair with frustration.
"Aren't you one dense lion. If Taeyong was here he'd give you a brief description on these. But I'm no expert so let's wait until we are back to ask your mom okay?" Jaehyun gave Mark a side hug. Everyone seemed home sick it was devastating.
"Mark can I have a word with you?" Jeno gestured Mark to come a little further from the army. The older followed the prince they were helping. "Give this to your little brother if I don't make it. Promise me." He extended a wedding band that he had previously purchased the moment he realised his feelings for the adorable bunny like boy.
"I promise." Promised Mark. But the question was, Would Mark survive the war to keep these promises?
