Kelsey's POV:
"Did I scare you?"
I hear the man standing before me a couple feet away ask in a slightly teasing voice as I continue to stay completely still, staring at him with a gaping mouth. Another way to embarrass myself.
But I could barely believe it, I'm finally meeting him!
The Maestro!
He doesn't seem unusual or scary-looking like everybody says that he does. He looks no different than me or anyone else. His captivating dark eyes keep staring at me and the longer they stay on me, the more my legs nearly turn to jelly.
He slowly and fully lowers his mask, his face beautifully sculpted, almost like he was completely made out of the smoothest stone there is. Or, more like, he actually looked like a statue. He really did look unreal.
Then I remember what Nate said, about him being a ghost.
Was he?
I couldn't see right through him, so I'm guessing that was just another rumor.
Unless I needed to take a closer look at him and prove my point.
Unable to speak from how astonished I was, I answer his question from before by slowly shaking my head no. That was a lie since I did get scared a little, but I try not to let it show and put on an act of bravery in front of him.
I think he knows that I'm lying, but he doesn't say anything as he chuckles softly and takes a step towards me. "Well, that's too bad. I'll have to try harder next time," He releases another soft chuckle under his breath, and he walks over to one of the couches and places his mask down on it and then looks back at me as he continues, "That is, if you don't want me to scare you any longer."
I'm still speechless, because I honestly don't know what to say. I'm still in shock that I finally got to meet the Maestro.
What should I say to him?
He looks back at me with a curious look in his eyes as the corner of his mouth goes up a little as he asks, "And you must be the new girl in town, are you not?"
Finally being able to close my mouth, I slowly nod my head and find my own voice, "Y-Y-Yes..." Damn my stuttering.
He smiles more as he takes off his cloak, revealing his long wavy black hair, and he was wearing a clean baggy white Victorian dress shirt, dark trousers and shoes. He honestly looks like he was an aristocrat from the sixteen to eighteen hundreds. He completely blended in with his surroundings, whereas I didn't.
This time, I ask, "A-Are you the Maestro?"
I watch as he continues to grin softly, not taking his eyes off of me as he replies with a nod, "That's right."
This time, I feel the corners of my mouth tugging in a small smile. "I-I can't believe it." I breathe out.
He chuckles once more as he walks over to me. "Tell me about it, my Dear. I've been waiting for a long time to finally meet you face to face, Miss Carlyle." He tells me.
I stare at him, a bit dumbfounded. "Y-You have?" I ask. Then I remembered back when I thought I saw him twice in my house, and when I heard him at the store. And that night when I saw him and accidentally scared him away.
Well, kind of saw him, but since he had his hood up and it was dark in my room, I couldn't see his face.
"Yes, and I want to apologize many times for intruding on you. I hope you can forgive me." The Maestro says, a look of innocence in his dark eyes. I shake my head,
