"I can't hear you." I tell them both.

Eric remains blank faced at me. The other vampire on the other hand repeats his gratitude:
"Thank you." he says a little louder.

Yikes! I'm doing it again; they're gonna get more suspicious than ever now, being a telepath has been everything for me, but now; finally I've come across two people who I can't hear the thoughts of:

Vampires.

"No, I mean I can't." I look at Eric and then bend down to look the other vampire in the eyes.

"Oh my stars." I say with such surprise.

Eric seems enamoured by me, the other vampire only looks at me witha cold look in his eyes, but his mouth lays wide open and he looks blank, clueless and like he doesn't even know what's happening.

"Aren't you scared about being out here with a hungry vampire?" he asks me.

"Two vampires, and you know the law, we don't feed. I can't stand politics these days." Eric comically remarks.

I giggle a little at Eric's banter. Next I wrap the silver that I recovered from the Rattrays around my neck and sit myself on top of an outstretched tree trunch. I'm position in a rather monarch like stature; the human-telepath queen of two mysterious vampires.

"Vampires often turn on the ones they love." the vampire tells me; like a warning, is it?

"Well so do humans." I reply, he seems like I've just reasoned with him.

He watches me as I cross my legs over. I can't help but wonder what it is about me that's drawing his sight towards me alone.

"You know you have other juicy arteries. There's one in the groin that's a particular favourite of mine." the vampires talking creepy, and he's giving me a bad impression.

"Hey! Shut your nasty mouth mister, you might be a vampire, but when you talk to me, you will talk to me like an equal; vampire or not." I give him a passionately tempered reply.

Eric perches himself next to me on the tree trunk, his hand rests just a few inches from my right hand. Resisting the uge, I almost move my hand to meet his own, but stop before making a move.

The vampire finishes pulling the restraints from the muscles of his arms. When he's free his eyes are now fixed on me just as Eric's are. He moves closer and stands before me.

"What are you?" he asks.

I am breathless, his fast swoosh has taken my breath away, but he seems very mysterious; a lot more than Eric.

"My name is Sookie Stackhouse, and I'm a waitreess. That's all. What's your name?" I ask him, hoping to take his mind of the curiosity of discovering my secret.

"Bill." he replies very deeply.

"Bill Compton, to be exact." Eric finishes the rest of his identity.

I start to laugh at his name and widen my red lipstick lips at his face:

"Bill, well that's a bit unusual, it short for something?" I try to be delicate with my words.

"Short for William." Bill replies with a sigh and a turn of his head to the side.

"I'll just call you Bill." I'm speaking to him like a little kid.

Eric swishes in front of Bill and me. Gazing into my eyes like he did last night; nothing about him draws me in than the way he looks at me; I'll admit it's creepy, but he's trustworthy.

"Bill, I think we should leave Sookie, she's got work to do." Eric turns away.

Bill has no words, he's gone all at once and then Eric moves his eyes to the ground and leaves, but I stop him before he can disappear:

"Eric, may I come visit you at your bar, say this Sunday, tomorrow?" I ask.

Eric manages a smile and then flicks his hair sticking over his face by pushing his head back.

"Of course. until then." before I know it, Eric's vanished from me again.
