Storms

The familiar crackle of thunder shook their darkened apartment and lightening illuminated the room just as Lindsey's eyes flew open. He had fallen asleep on the couch apparently, but it had been one of those unintentional naps, and he couldn't decide what he was more confused about; his surroundings, what time it was, or why he felt so heavy.

The last feeling struck interest in his brain somewhere. He was technically still half asleep from the neck down, his body feeling completely relaxed and motionless. It wasn't an uncomfortable weight though. Not heavy enough to be painful but not light enough to be a blanket. Once he had gathered enough energy to shift his eyes away from the ceiling and tilt his chin to see the much darker room, he eventually discovered what had caused the weighted feeling.

Stevie had fallen sleep with her tiny body cradled between the couch and him, her head in the crook of his shoulder surrounded by messy blonde bangs, and arms outstretched across his chest. Her legs were intertwined with his, and she seemed completely at peace. He remembered her mentioning she had been cold (she only wore one of Lindsey's loose t shirts and her underwear to bed) and he'd welcomed her onto the couch with open arms. She didn't seem to be shivering anymore, with the moonlight and the raindrops outside casting silhouettes along her exposed skin. Her breathing was even, and he knew that once Stevie Nicks was asleep, it was nearly impossible to wake the woman up. And if you did manage, you'd better prepare for the wrath of the storm that followed.

The truth was, Lindsey was absolutely terrified of thunder. The booming noise, the aggressive vibrations, everything. It bothered him and made him anxious, though he'd never admit it to anyone. He would feel so pathetic if anyone knew, because it made him feel like such a little child. It was normally kept secretive easily, until nights like these where he sat clenching his fists until his knuckles turned white under the starless sky, and finally he couldn't take it any longer. He brought one of his hands up to caress the side of Stevie's cheek and brushing some hair away in the process, she was still sound asleep. She stirred slightly, but kept still. That wouldn't do.

"Steph? Baby..." He began tracing patterns along her arms, but they pulled away from his touch in annoyance. She shivered. That had always created chills up her spine and he couldn't help but smile at the familiarity, even in sleep. Lindsey reached down where one leg was bent higher and caressed her thigh, leaning in to kiss her forehead gently. This created a small groan from her, and she brought the one leg up higher, curling her body around him and shifting position slightly.

"Stephanie.."

"Hmmm..Linds?"

"I need your help."

"Mmm..that's....too bad.."

"What?"

"I'm sleeping.."

"I can tell. But I need you to be awake."

"Why?"

He felt himself going red, and was thankful it was the middle of the night. "Because I'm...I'm scared of the thunder."

"You...what?"

"The thunder. I can't sleep babe!"

"...you were sleeping..." She yawned before continuing "before..i was too.."

"Stevieee." He was whining now but she was persistent.

"Lindseyyyy."

He sat in silence, a little ashamed until she broke it. Her head rolled up to look at him, dark brown eyes now open and alert and searching his own.

"Awe, baby come here.." She squirmed up between the couch and his body to kiss him tenderly on the cheek, then wrapped her arms around him tighter. "It's okay, Lindsey..it's just the sky's song. If you listen, you can hear it singing."

She smiled brightly at him "even the rain joins in eventually, The thunder is the percussion, and the lightening is the songstress. The star of The show!" She mused, hoping to make him feel better. And it definitely distracted him. Stevie, fully awake now, moved to sit upright, straddling him and placing her small hands on his bare chest. It wasn't sensual, just thoughtful and intimate.

"Lindsey, do you think we'll ever be stars?"

"You are my star."

She leant down to kiss his forehead and his hands went to rest on her thighs. "That's not what I meant!" She laughed and rolled her eyes jokingly.

"I know what you meant angel. We'll make it, I promise." By then, he had sat up and leant in to bring their lips together, until another loud crack of thunder paralyzed him and he sank back down into the couch, unable to move much with Stevie still on top of him.

"Oh for gods sake Lindsey don't be such a big baby." She swatted his arm in fake annoyance, but once she saw the fear in his eyes, it eventually began to bother her.

"What can I do, Linds?"

"There's not much you can do baby."

"I'm sure I can think of something to do for you.." As she said this she brought her hands lower and stroked him once through his jeans. Lindsey's eyes widened in surprise, then closed momentarily in bliss. Then she leant in again to apply a soft kiss to his lips, and lingered there, touching foreheads.

"Am I a good enough distraction, hmm?"

"You're the perfect distraction, Steph. You're perfect in general. I-"

"Shh.." She had begun unbuckling his belt and pulling on the waistband of his jeans, so he slid them off eagerly and with ease. Feeling him become aroused, she rolled her hips gently, pretending she didn't notice what the feeling was doing to him. But Lindsey was completely transfixed on her. Up above him, she looked like the most angelic being, and it was difficult not to stare as she brought her hands through his curls and back down along his chest lightly, tracing patterns against his skin.

"How is being such a tease going to make me feel any better?"

"Oh, I think you can handle it."

He took his hands from her thighs and began up her curves towards her breasts, and this time when she had leant in for a kiss, he was ready. It seemed as if in the same matter of seconds that he sat up eagerly, he had flown back down just as fast when Stevie had placed her hand between them again, grasping him firmly. A gentle moan escaped his lips which caused a small smile on her darkened features. Then she slid down towards his thighs, planting light kisses lower and lower on his chest along the way. Lindsey sucked in a sharp breath when her mouth finally reached him, sealing her lips along his length.

"Stevie..Steph please.."

Chocolate eyes looked up beneath her thick bangs, and she brought her mouth lower, smiling slightly and grazing her teeth along the way. This time when the thunder returned, neither one seemed to notice.
