Chapter 5: Kwik Trip

Checking into the motel went smoothly enough. Reyna was hesitant to change out of her clothes to sleep but since she didn't feel like digging out her pajamas from the pile of luggage in the trunk, she peeled off her sweaty t-shirt and laid it to cool off on the chair across from her bed. Thankfully, all the people in her room were girls. Reyna realized that Annabeth must have done that on purpose, considering Thalia's position as Artemis' lieutenant.

Hazel wasn't quite as lucky. She'd realized that with the odd number of girls one of them would have to be stuck in a room full of guys, but she'd been hoping it wouldn't be her. Fortunately, being the only girl in the room meant the guys gave her free reign of the bathroom and Frank lent her a spare sweatshirt to sleep in so she could take off her stale, sweaty clothes but still stay covered.

Once they were all settled in, it didn't take long for everybody to fall asleep.

Nico woke up several times throughout throughout the night. The first time he woke up, he shuffled quietly to the bathroom before getting back into bed and falling back asleep. The second time he woke up, around midnight, he decided to pull out his phone. The others had spammed the group chat while he had been asleep in the car.

4:18pm, December, 22
