Madeleine felt awful. He kept getting headaches and static in his brain. It felt so bad and his magic was being impacted too, one day he had enough and decided to visit Espresso. He knocked on his door three times as it creaked open "Madeleine!" He smiled. Wow that was the first time Espresso's smiled in a while "Hi, Espresso. I need to look at your books." Madeleine said in a more flatter tone "Oh why? Whats wrong?" He followed Madeleine in to his library "Light magic. Light magicccc" Madeleine was skimming his finger over the spine it each book "These are the only light magic books I have acctually." He points to two books scattered onto a desk Madeleine walked over and read the titles "The darnkess of Light magic" and "Light magic 101: what you need to know" why does he have these? Madeleine thought but ignored it and picked up the darkness book "Uhm, Madeleine you might not like what you see in—" "Itll be ok, I just want to see what these headaches are about." He opened it and landed on a page titled "Headaches and missing magic" He read through ad dread began to spread through his face "Madeleine are you-" He dropped the book and began speed walking to the door "Espresso, when we were kids was I ever, forgetful?" "Yeah." "Did I always have headaches?" "Yeah, your point?" "We need to visit my parents and get to the bottom of their bullshit." Madeleine bawled his fists and opened the door and walked in the direction of his house "Madeline wait up! Explain!" Espresso caught up "They erased my memories." He turned to the smaller one with tears in his eyes "That is awful." Espresso was speechless and soon enough they arrived at Madeleines house. He walked in and began packing his bags and added in some of Espressos clothes he had dotted around "Wait, Madeleine. You seriously aren't considering going back to the republic?" Espresso looked at him wide eyed as he nodded and took Espressos hand

-lazy timeskip to when they get to madeleines town (in ze republic) -

Many unfamiliar faces greet Madeleine, them growing more when they get closer to his estate. They arrive at a large white and gold house with a rhinestoned gate with the same gem as Madeleines headpeice. They walk in and knock on the large wooden doors, the noise of high heels can be heard and an older woman answers the door "Madeleine?!" Genoise cookie covers her mouth in shock "Mother." He greeted her "I have missed you so so much!" She goes to hug Madeleine but notices Espresso "And what is that..coffee mage doing here." She narrows her eyes and goes to whisper something into Madelines ear "I thought he was long gone after what happened, good riddance." "Miss Genoise cookie, you should get better at whispering." Espresso smiled an obviously not real smile and stood there untill the two walked in "Your room Madeleine, is on the west wing. As for him..you can sleep on the—" "He's with me, mother." Madeleine grabs Espressos hands causing him to go a bit pink. "Don't you dare use that tone against your mother! Dinner will be ready in an hour." She said with rage. Madeleine dragging Espresso upstairs into their bedroom. "Jeez Maddie, I didn't know your family were such...assholes." Espresso hesitated. "Neither." Madeleines lips began to turn up at the corners "Whats that grin abou-" Madeleine hugs Espresso tight and he shows no signs of letting go "I like Maddie." He says into Espressos shirt.
