(This might not make much sense, but y/n is Deer. It'll make more sense later in the story, I promise. Also, this isn't part of the fan fiction and doesn't correlate with the actual story whatsoever. Just a small oneshot.)
It wasn't everyday you saw Brook in a good mood.
Of course, after his past and how long he's been here not much phases him anymore. He had always been sure to kill his sinner within the first few hours of every day, to keep his day free from other things. Same went for Christmas.
After killing his daily sinner, a man who had just robbed an old guy of his wallet, he walked back to his apartment. He had moved in with Deer after he lost his place with the old Red Spades leader.
Unlocking the door, he tried to open it quietly. Even though he, Scarlet and Deer were reapers, Deer liked to sleep and eat and do everything that normal people did. Said it made them feel more human. They were probably sleeping right now, since it was so late.
The door opened and Brook slipped inside, locking it behind him. He turned around to see Deer, standing in front of him and looking at him. "What are you doing?" Deer grabbed a jacket from the side of them. "Come on. I wanna go look at lights." Brook raised a brow at them. "Why would you want to do that? We see them every time we come into the living room." He gestured past them, where on the balcony houses were visible through the window full of decorations and lights. The living room had Christmas lights in it too.
"That's not the only thing I want to do!" Deer whined. Brook rolled his eyes. "Why not I have to come then?" Deer shrugged their shoulders before walked by him, grabbing Brook's wrist and pulling him to the door, then out of it and out of the apartment complex.
They walked down the street for quite some time, not much lights to be seen in the area because it was mostly made of apartments. That was until they got into the nicer houses, that were littered with lights and blown up Christmas things like Santa and riendeers. Walking by a house that had a small Santa figurine by its chimney and a lot of red and green lights everywhere, Deer looked at it with great interest, before reaching out and grabbing Brook's hand. He still had his gloves on, but Deer didn't mind. Brook looked at them from the side of his eyes. What were they doing? Not that he minded, but it was odd.
After a while they walked into a small shop. It sold a lot of things, kind of like a mall but smaller. "Wait here." Deer ordered Brook before walking away. A few minutes later they returned with a stuffed animal Reindeer in their hand. With a smile they waited in line. Eventually when it was their turn, ("Two hot chocolates please!") Deer paid for the order and they left the shop, walking back to their apartment.
Deer handed Brook a hot chocolate, and when they got back to their apartment they sat down on the sofa in the living room and turned on the TV. A blanket was over them both and it was silent from a very long while.
Deer looked at the stuffed animal that was in their hands before tapping Brook on the shoulder. They held the stuffed animal out to him. "Merry Christmas, Brook." Deer smiled up at him.
Brook's face flushed link slightly as he took the stuffed animal. "One second," he muttered, moving the blanket and getting up. He opened the door to their shared bedroom and came out soon after with a small box.
He sat back down and handed it to Deer. "I wanted to give it to you in the morning, but now seems like a better time." Deer looked down at it and opened the box. There was a bracelet inside, a plain black one. It looked like a smart watch. Noticing their confusing, Brook began to explain.
"It's a bonding bracelet. Let me show you." Brook held out his own arm and rolled down his glove, and be was wearing an identical bracelet. He put his finger over it three times, and a pink light lit up on his bracelet. Right after, the one sitting in the box vibrated and lit up three times, a neon green.
A smile graces Deer's features as their face lit up. They took the bracelet out of the box and Brook helped them put it around their wrist. "What does the three taps mean?" Brook shrugged. "That's for you to find out." Brook looked at the time, then got up and walked into the kitchen that connected to their living space.
Deer looked back down at the box. There was a paper wedged inside of it. Deer pulled it out and unfolded it. It was a guide to what a certain amount of taps meant. "Three taps - I love you"
A grin appeared on Deer's face and they looked up to Brook, who seemed to be cooking. He was concentrating very hard on the food he was making, determine to not look up.
The rest of the day was spent baking together.
