"No, Hermione. I really do not want to do this."

"Why not?"

"It's a stupid idea Hermione! It will not work!"

"Oh? Then what will?"

"Nothing will. Draco's not into guys like me. He likes Pansy Parkinson, doesn't he? The end. He prefers girls."

"How do you know, Harry?"

Harry stood up from his comfortable armchair in the Gryffindor common room. All the seventh year Gryffindor students had decided to stay over Christmas, and so the common room was unusually packed for December 24th.

"Hermione," Harry said irritably, "he's not into guys, and I'm... okay with that. He's a complete idiot anyway. I don't know why I suddenly fell in love with him." He frowned.

Harry walked out of the common room, towards the great hall. Hermione followed him from behind.

To his horror, in the great hall, Draco Malfoy was in there arguing with a girl with dark hair.

Harry could not help himself. He stared at Draco from a distance. He wasn't even listening to Hermione anymore.

Hermione stifled a chuckle. This was the first time after Ginny that Harry had fallen in love with  someone.

Harry had loved Ginny but she was very ambitious. She wanted to be known as more than just the Chosen One's girlfriend. She didn't want to be famous just for that. So, they broke up.

"Because you've had years of getting to know each other," Hermione smirked.

"What was that?" Harry asked, tearing his eyes away from the tall blonde boy who appeared to be arguing with a very tired Pansy Parkinson.

Hermione and Harry found their usual seats in the great hall and sat down in front of Ron, who was eating a chicken drumstick hungrily and reading a Chudley Cannons quidditch magazine.

Hermione shook her head slowly, unable to keep a smile from her face as she observed Harry's vacant expression and his blank eyes.

"Just. Talk. To. Him," she said firmly.

"No," Harry said. "I'll see you around, guys." He turned to leave the hall.

Hermione glared after him while Ron grunted something unintelligible from behind his quidditch magazine.

"You're going to have to talk to him about this soon, Ron," she said drily.

"But not today!" he cheerfully replied.

Hermione sighed as she watched Harry leave the hall. On the other side of the hall at the Slytherin table, Draco stood up abruptly, throwing his hands in the air and storming away from a now amused Parkinson. They really need someone to just force them into confessing... Hermione thought idly.

She froze, a thought suddenly hitting her. Harry was almost through the doors by now. She had to make a quick decision.

"Oh, I can't believe I'm doing this," she groaned as she pulled out her wand.

Ron looked up in alarm.

"Imperio," she muttered, pointing her wand at Harry.

Ron spun around in shock, just in time to see Harry turn and grab a stunned Draco by the waist and swing him into a long, glorious and passionate kiss.

Ron squealed.

Hermione grinned and lowered her wand, muttering a quick counter curse as she did. After a few seconds, the Great Hall erupted in deafening noise.

Strange, Hermione thought. Malfoy almost leaped into Harry's arms. I would have expected some resistance, simply because they're both so stubborn.

Hermione got a feeling that someone was watching her. She looked up, just in time to see Pansy  casually lowering her own wand, muttering a counter curse. Pansy smiled at Hermione and shrugged. Hermione surprised herself by smiling back.

In the background, the boys continued to kiss.
