I slowly roused myself from my slumber, having heard a low-rumbling noise that interrupted into my sleep. "Oh yea, I'm among the clouds. Or rather, was..." my speech slowed as I took in my surroundings. At that moment, there were barely any clouds within arm's reach from me and the clouds were mostly clustered elsewhere, seemingly to be in nucleated formations and shifting to one direction, particularly to my left. I heard the same low-rumbling noise, except that it sounded louder and I felt clouds that touched my feet disperse into water droplets. It gradually upon me that it was about to rain, and I realised that clouds were not stationary, they were always in motion. "Ah shit," I muttered as I dissolved my 'bed' and flew as quickly as I could down to the earth ground. My first instinct being to seek shelter to prevent being struck by lightning, I scanned my suroundings for a place I could seek shelter from. "Any houses perhaps...? No...wait...that tree's branches are wide..." I thought as my eyes rested on a sturdy-looking tree a few metres away from me, its branches stretching out generously and producing big and wide leaves. I darted under the tree at top speed and leaned myself against the tree, panting from the energy I exerted to move, mostly to fly fast. Within seconds, the heavens opened and countless rain droplets began pelting down at rapid pace. Feeling colder, I wore my green jacket that was initially wound around my waist and it was then, without fearing for no protection from the lightning, that I properly scrutinized my surroundings. It did not look as if other humans or animals were using this plot of land, with no manmade objects in sight, except a few trees planted at random and scattered, with grass that grew in clusters that seemed maintained, the strands having similar lengths. "I guess I'll have to stay put here til' the rain stops... I ain't gon' take any hazards with being struck by lightning. It's not like there are any better places for shelter here," I decided. "I wonder if humans will do anything with this plot of land...after all that grass seems to have been cut recently..." I pondered, letting my thoughts run loose. After a bit, I sat down on the dry earth and ripped open my packet of biscuits, munching on them while attempting to do art of the clouds from my perspective when I was looking down at Earth on my phone. With the accompaniment of the pleasant pitter-patter of the raindrops sounding on the earth and the leaves of the tree that helped to shelter me, I intently tried to draw the picturesque view I had had.
After some time, I gave up trying to draw the clouds. "Fuck, the view I had of the clouds was too pretty..." I said in mild frustration, plugging my cable from my powerbank into my phone to let it charge before slipping it into my bag. I glanced ahead of me; where the earth was unsheltered. The rain had subsided, and the lightning did not strike as frequently. "Soon I'll be able to fly to other places. Not too sure where I should explore though..." I thought. I pulled out my earphones, plugged it into my phone, and began listening to 'The Girl I Have A Crush On', drifting off into a peaceful rest.
By the time I had felt like I gained enough energy, the rain had stopped. I glanced at my watch. It read "14:46". "Hmm, I still have quite a bit of time till night..." I wondered. I soared up into the air, wondering where else to go to. "So I find some place to go..." I said with a tinge of uncertainty, and with that, I flew up higher into the sky, and kept my eyes peeled for any places that looked interesting and piqued my curiosity.
After a long while, dusk had set, and I was mildy tired. "Well seeing rice paddles were kinda nice..." I murmured in a tired tone, creating a smiliar platform made of the particles among the clouds after soaring higher into the sky to be at the clouds' level. I laid down on my back and looked up towards the sky. Many countless stars dotted the sky that night, and looked less blur, probably because I was closer to the sky. I heaved a sigh of content, and embraced the mood my whole surrounding brought, drifting off into a deep sleep after a while.
