Jade Thirlwall loved her best friend to pieces. Really, she did.
Even if she had a weird obsession with basketball that has her yelling and up on her feet most of the time when grown men standing at 6 feet tall can't shoot an orange ball in a ring.
But waking her up at the crack of dawn was not it.
"Five more minutes!" She complains, burying her head deeper in her pillow as the older woman stood by her, hands on her hips with a faint scowl as she tried hitting the singer awake, "Wake up. This is important."
"It's not important." She mumbles, "It's about the Grammys."
Okay, seems interesting, "Hm?"
"Jade, I'm giving you five seconds before I get Kyro and let his slobber drop on you." Sensing the seriousness of her best friend's voice, Jade groans, lifting her head up and beginning to sit up with a pout, "Fine. I'm up."
"Label called. They want you to do something." Oh, did I forget to mention she was also her manager?
"Oh?" She asks, getting off the bed and following the girl to the living space, not bothering to check her phone when she continues talking, "It's a new type of promo for your new song and it's to create some attention to you for the awards season."
"I'm listening." She hums, well, not really, all she heard was promo and awards season.
Leigh decided if she should tell her as she watched her chug a glass of water from across the island. Should she? I mean... oh, fuck it.
"How does dating an NBA player sound?" She asks gently, not wanting to surprise her too much and kinda hoping that the girl doesn't hear her when Jade's eyes widen, nearly spitting the water out as she gaped at her manager, "Excuse me?"
"They want us to meet with a team later."
Okay... okay... she's trying to act like this was a little thing. Jade knew this tactic. She's done this before.
"No, Leigh, hold on, back up, what?" She cuts off and she could see her best friend sigh, running a hand through her hair with a frown etched on her face, "The label wants you to date a player."
Just to be clear, though, Leigh was actually feeling bad. Okay, maybe half feeling bad.
"And you said yes? Leigh..." She whines and the other girl was obviously upset as well. She just... Come on, the Lakers call you in the middle of the night, the one team you support and you're supposed to say no?
"I'm sorry! I — it made sense, okay? It's been a while since you dated, you haven't returned home since last year and can you please do it for me?" She pleads, her eyes doing these stupid thing where she looks like an injured puppy begging for help.
Jade looks away, throwing her a towel, "This is my dating life!"
"Your non-existent dating life." Okay, ouch.
"I'm not going to prance around LA with some random guy that's twice my size and call him my boyfriend." She argues, and she thought it was a pretty solid argument when Leigh goes silent. Only problem was, she was smiling.
"It's actually a random girl that's just eight inches taller than you." She grins, remembering the details of the call. Jade's jaw fell on the ground, "What?"
