I was trying not to fall asleep while Mr.Charles explained the importance of the law to us. I swear if the bell doesn't ring soon I'll die. Don't get me wrong he was nice but he talks about the same thing in every class.
- Remember that the essay is due next Tuesday, and I won't accept any of them after the deadline.- After finishing the sentence the bell rang, and I swear that I was almost crying with happiness. I got up as fast as I could and went to the door so I could get out of here. It was a Thursday, and on Fridays I only had one class, so that means it is almost the weekend, and I could not be more excited about it. As I was crossing the school doors my phone rang, I looked at the screen and I saw that it was Violet.
- Hi Violet - I said.
- You need to come right now.- She sounded desperate.
- What happened?- I asked a little bit worried.
- I need help with the wedding, more specifically the guests. - Violet has been my best friend since I moved to LA almost four years ago, we met here in college even though she is studying psychology. She was engaged to Tom and was getting married in a month, so she was a little bit crazy with the last details. Yesterday she called me at 3 a.m because she was worried about the flowers she had picked up for the wedding, because as she said "what if someone has an allergic reaction to them and dies at my wedding? That would be a disaster!" Yeah maybe she was going fucking nuts but she is my best friend and I guess I'll need to make sure she doesn't die of a heart attack before the wedding.
- I'll be there in 15 minutes, but you owe me one.- I was planning on watching Mean Girls and eating ice cream for the whole afternoon, but I'll guess that will have to wait.
- Thanks babe, you are the best! - She said excitedly.
- I know, bye. - After finishing the sentence I hung up my phone and started walking towards her house.
Violet and I lived pretty close to each other and our college, but she is going to move to another house when she gets married to Tom. So I was trying to make the most out of this month.
I opened the building door and got into the elevator. When the elevator doors opened, I got out and then I knocked on the door. Violet opened the door and smiled a little when she saw that it was me.
- Thank god you are here.- She was a mess, her hair was in a messy ponytail and she was wearing a really big shirt and pants, that she probably borrowed from her fianccé. She had eye bags under her eyes and looked like she didn't have any sleep tonight.
- What happened here? - The living room looked even worts than her. On the floor, there was huge cardboard with drawn tables and a lot of papers with names written on them.
- I'm trying to figure out how we are supposed to sit the guests so they don't try to kill each other. I can't sit my mom and dad at the same table if I don't want them to try to kill each other, but they need to sit at tables next to us, and I don't know what to do.- She sounded overwhelmed. Her parents got divorced when she was sixteen because her mom cheated on him with the yoga instructor and her dad cheated on her with his secretary, I know cliché right?
- Well you can sit your dad at this table.- I said pointing at one of the tables from the cardboard.
- I can't because at this table is Tom's aunt, and she can't go to the same table as my dad, because the last time that happened, they got into an argument. My dad said that she was a crazy woman because she has like eight cats. So I can't sit him at this table either because...-
- Okay calm down, I'll solve this.- I interrupted her because she seemed really stressed.
I sat on the floor and started to relocate everyone to try to avoid any type of conflict. After a few minutes, I looked at her and smiled.
- Done.- I said.
She read all the names carefully, and when she finished her eyes lit up and a smile appeared on her face.
- Oh my god, that's perfect. You are the best!- She screamed excitedly, while she came to hug me.
I smiled and hugged her back. At that exact moment, the door opened and Tom walked in.
- Hey girls.- He said as he smiled and kissed Violet.
Tom was a good-looking guy. He was tall and had black short hair and green eyes. He was skinny but fit, but most importantly he loved Violet a lot and treated her like she was a princess. They were really cute.
- I see you finally solved the table issues.- He said
- Actually, Meredith was the one that solved the issue.- Tom looked at me and smiled.
- Thank god, because she was going psycho.-
- You're welcome. - I said as I laughed. - One question, where am I sitting?- I said looking at the cardboard.
- Well you don't have a seat yet, because we wanted to ask you if you were going to bring a plus one.- Violet said.
- You know I'm not going to bring a plus one, I'm not dating anyone.-
- Well in that case Tom and I have been thinking and...- She said like they were planning something.
- Oh no. I don't like how that sounds.- I said cutting her off.
- Wait, let me finish. So Tom's best friend is single too, and we thought that you two would look good together.-
- Look, I'm not going to go to your wedding with him. One, I don't even know him. Two, I don't need to bring anyone if I don't want to.- I said.
- We know, but I've known Josh since high school, he is a nice guy, and he is single too.- Tom said.
- Yeah, I've seen him a lot of times and he could be really good for you. We could set up a date for the two of you soon.-
- Violet, I don't want to go on a date with anyone.- I said. It was not the first time she tried to set me up with someone.
- Meredith, you need to get over Jake, it's been two months since you two broke up.- She said.
- I'm over Jake, I just don't want to go on a date with him.- I said annoyed.
- Come on just one date, if you don't like him you can leave.-
- No.- I was already tired of this conversation.
- Just one date.- She asked looking at me with puppy eyes.
- No, and that face it's not going to work this time.-
- Please.-
- No.-
- Yes.- She continued.
- No.-
- Yes, please.-Ughh, she isn't going to stop.
- Come on Meredith, just one date.- Tom said with puppy eyes too.
- Okay, I'll go.- I said defeated. I was tired of this already, and I know damm well they are not going to stop until I agree.
- Yess.- They both said at the same time as they high fived.
- But if I don't like him I'll leave.-
- Sure.- Violet answered with a smile. - Ah, the date is tomorrow.-
- What?-
What did I just get myself into?
A/N: Hey guys. So this is my first book ever and I'm really excited about it. I've been reading Wattpad for a year and a half, and I thought I could try to write something. Please let me know what y'all think about it!
I'll try to be as active as possible, but keep in mind that I go to school and I don't have that much free time.
Have a great day! ;)
