Haechan lets a small content sigh out as he began to stare off into space, looking at Chaehwa. Her short hair still managing to get in her face. She often had to move it out of the way.
Chaehwa held her pencil, rotating, and flipping between her fingers. It was a class before lunch would start and Chaehwa was hungry. She had woken up late and skipped out on breakfast to get to school on time.
Chaehwa couldn't concentrate. Chaehwa looked away from her paper and at Jaemin. She softly smiled and looked away, twirling her hair, not knowing that her own friend, Hyejeong was glancing at Jaemin.
As the silent class were working, all lost in their own thoughts, when the bell had rung, all bringing the students out of their trance. There were some mumbling were made as students put their stuff into their desks and got ready for lunch. After being dismissed by the teacher, the students left class one by one, or in certain pairs. Chaehwa and Hyejeong waited for the class to be less crowded then got out to go meet up with their other friends by their usual spot.
"I don't think I was able to get much done," Chaehwa groans, her head falling forward as she and Hyejeong walked.
"I could give you some of my notes," Hyejeong smiled.
"Thank you," Chaehwa looked up at her and smiled. "I'm hungry, I didn't get to have breakfast."
"Aren't you always hungry?" she chuckled.
Chaehwa whined, playfully hitting her shoulder. "Yeah, but like, I didn't get to eat this morning so I'm more hungry than usual."
"Noted," she patted her back.
The two girls saw their three other friends waiting for them, they all smiled, greeting each other.
"Hey, how were classes?" Daye asked.
"Boring as usual," Chaehwa said, blowing hair out of her face.
"She just wants food," Hyejeong tease, poking her head repeatedly.
"Hey!" Chaehwa swatted her hand away. "Meanie!"
"Children these days," Geurim joked, Miyeon nodding playfully as they finally made it to the canteen.
Haechan sigh softly in disappointment, missing his chance -chickening out- on asking Chaehwa out again.
How could I possibly ask her out if I can't even have the courage to go up and talk to her? He scolded himself. "Ughhh I'm stupid." He banged his head on the lunch table.
"You know it's unsanitary to put your head there right?" Yangyang said, grabbing his ear slightly pinching it.
"Ow, ow, let go!" Haechan screeched, trying to pull away.
"Both of you quit it," Renjun sighed out.
"You're talking about that girl again right?" Jaemin asked, Haechan nodding quickly, a bit too excited.
"Just invite her over here for lunch," Jeno said, as if reading Jaemin's mind.
"Can her friends come over too?" Shotaro asked.
"Yes," Jaemin spoke up before Haechan. Haechan glared at him. "What? It's not like you're gonna say anything to her anyways-" Haechan smacked his head. "Hey!" The two began to play fight, not noticing Renjun standing up to invite the girls over.
"Hey, my friends were wondering if you all wanted to have lunch with us," Renjun said.
Hyejeong coughed on her food. "Sur-"
"No thanks, count me out," Miyeon said. "I don't know what you guys are planning but no thanks."
Renjun stood there a bit shocked, but recollected himself as the girls whispered among each other.
"This is a chance to know them better," Daye whispered. "And to know our crushes more too."
"Meh, I'm not looking forward to making friends with the popular people, can't be good," Miyeon said.
"You're always suspicious about meeting new people and making friends," Chaehwa stuck her tongue at Miyeon.
"I'm up for it, but as soon as we feel bad vibes, we're out, you guys got that?" Daye said, the girls nodded. Before they finally could say yes, Haechan screeched and ran over to Renjun and grabbed him, pulling him away.
"So sorry he's bothering you all! Don't mind him! He's weird!" Haechan pulled him back to their table.
"Well maybe that was a sign for us not to hang out with them," Miyeon shrugged and continued to eat.
"You don't like to hang out with anyone," Geurim squinted her eyes at her.
"Except for you guys," Miyeon continued to eat.
Haechan made Renjun sit back down. "What were you thinking?! That was embarrassing!"
"No, what's embarrassing is that you're too much of a wimp to ask Chaehwa out yourself," Renjun pinched his arm while Haechan groaned out in pain.
"Ok, ok!" Haechan swatted Renjun's arm away. "If I ask her out will you stop bothering me about it?"
"Maybe try to get her to be your girlfriend, then I'll quit bothering you about it," Renjun said. "But I won't make any promises."
"Ok fine!" Haechan said. This time he knew that he had to suck it up, and just ask her. He'll never know if she'll feel the same or not if he never asked. It was worth a shot.
