Tw for intense violence and death.

Shroud also uses he/it/spider pronouns so I'm sorry if it's confusing.

Shroud stares out the holes in the door, deep in thought, when his communicator vibrates. He pulls it out, hoping to see his father calling, only to be met with a call from his best friend, Michael. Slightly disappointed, it answers the call. "Hello?"

"I'm outside."

What. Michael is... what. The two of them weren't allowed outside. Their parents always told them that they were seen as dangerous, Shroud being a spider hybrid and Micheal being a zombie pigman.

"You're what?! Michael I swear to god if you do not get back inside I will-"

"No- no! Listen to me, okay? Go outside. Now."

"What?! Are you crazy?! I could get killed- You could get killed!"

"NOBODY IS HERE!" Michael shouted, startling Shroud.

"What...?"

"Go outside. The place is abandoned. Snowchester is completely abandoned. I walked to Technoblade's house and the place was completely trashed. It looked like somebody was leaving in a hurry."

"I- are you sure...?"

"Shroud, when was the last time you saw Uncle Tommy?"

"I- I don't know...months maybe?"

"Has anybody come by to look for him? Has anybody even passed the house?"

Shroud thought about it and Michael was right. Spider hadn't seen anybody in months. Slowly he opened the door. At first everything looked normal until it turned.

Destruction. Everywhere.

There were huge craters and still leftover fire from whatever had happened. The hotel, which was stolen from Shroud's father, was burnt down. There were gaps in the prime path. Bad's and Skeppy's house was completely wiped out. The only thing that really seemed to be fine was the prison.

Oh god. The prison.

"Shroud, meet me at L'manburg, okay? Do not go anywhere other than L'manburg." There was urgency in Michael's voice as he, Shroud assumed, moved hurriedly to get to the destroyed country.

Shroud only nodded as it hung up. Spider quickly grabbed a bag from his home, throwing in whatever food he could. It slung the bag over it's shoulder hurrying to make it to L'manburg. There was blood scattered everywhere. How hadn't Shroud noticed this?

He made it to L'manburg and walked over to the burnt down L'mantree. Shroud held one of it's spider limbs, petting it softly. His father used to do that whenever either of them had trouble sleeping.

Michael rushed over, out of breath. "I- I found something." He heaved out, holding what seemed like a letter. Michael took a moment to catch his breath before looking up at Shroud. "Did you find any letters at your home? My dads left me one, maybe Uncle Tommy left you one too."

Shroud stared it's friend. "I didn't- I didn't see a note...we can go check?"

Michael quickly shook his head, grabbing Shroud's hand and leading spider. "There's no time. We have to go. Now."

Shroud allowed himself to be led as his mind raced. "Michael, what did the letter say...?"

Michael's face darkened. "I'll tell you later. We just have to get as far away as we can.

The two boys walked for most of the day until they found a small cave. They lit the cave up before setting up camp. Michael started a fire as Shroud pulled out foods he found. The two were silent for a while, tension in the air.
