16th of February.
For months, Beomgyu kept in touch. As a matter of fact, his presence had gone somehow enough for Y/N to remember who he is. It was upon Nana Mei's delight that the pair clicked— Y/N's never had a fair connection with anyone since her diagnosis, hence Beomgyu's efforts were deemed helpful.
Winter struck Beverly in an awful way. Most streets were plunged into thick layers of snow; hadn't if it were for the snowplows, Beomgyu wouldn't have been able to get to work. Although he could've just finished his duties in the comfort of his apartment, but he wouldn't have had an excuse to stop by Cornelia Street and spend an hour or two with Y/N; just like now.
"Wow, it's beautiful! You really knitted this yourself, Y/N?"
"Grandma helped me," she shyly admitted. "Is it cozy enough? I hope you don't mind the fact that it's red."
"It's perfect!"
Beomgyu happily wrapped the scarf around his neck. Y/N's lips pursed into a proud grin. The two of them sat crisscrossed on the couch, sipping hot chocolate with little marshmallows floating on top. Nana Mei was baking in the kitchen. Fortunately, her wee business slightly kicked off as seasonal treats fell in demand to the market.
"My darling spent nights crocheting that thing," Nana Mei gloated. "She's incredibly talented, oh dear."
"I'm glad that you liked it, Beomgyu."
"Why wouldn't I?" He caressed the fabric. "It's a very wonderful gift from a very wonderful person."
Y/N's face felt hot. She cupped one of her cheeks in embarrassment. It was Beomgyu's turn to show off. He opened his bag and pulled out an item. Beneath the warm light and the shadows of a dozen Christmas roses, a snow globe glistened. Its holographic glitter shimmered, bathing a spinning snowman in the middle. Faint "Let It Snow" music chimed beneath the base as Beomgyu cranked a small lever. Y/N gasped.
"Here," Beomgyu handed it over. "Consider that as my late New Year's gift, alright?"
"But," Y/N stared at the snow globe. "I gave you nothing but a scarf. I should've thought of a better idea."
"What are you saying?" Nana Mei scoffed. "For once, you were able to knit, sunshine! It doesn't matter whether you've spent money over a present or not."
"Yeah," Beomgyu agreed. "Besides, I really appreciate your gift, Y/N."
Relieved, Y/N placed the snow globe on a shelf right under Mr. Fudge's portrait. Its glassy sphere stood out next to an array of porcelain cats.
"There's a newly opened petshop downtown," Beomgyu checked his phone. "Wanna go there, Y/N?"
"Ah?" Nana Mei peeked from the kitchen. "Isn't it still snowing outside, boy?"
"A little, but the snowplows pulled through so it's all good now."
"Can I go?" Y/N begged. "Grandma, please?"
"Alright, but be back before dinner, hmm?"
Beomgyu and Y/N immediately slipped into their fuzzy coats. They ran out of the apartment, bidding a joyous goodbye. Nana Mei smiled to herself after hearing the door slam shut.
"Oh honey," she rubbed her forehead. "What am I going to do with you?"
