The laughter died down in sync. The two distant friends sat across from each other in a local diner. A comfortable conversation turned into dumb subjects to keep each other dying in their laugh box. The teary-eyed Tori still let out a couple of giggles before breathing normally again by a smoothing face appeared. "I can't remember the last time we went out to eat like this." Sasuke agreed, smirking in accomplishment to hear that she's enjoying their time together.
"I think so too," he replied in a very gentle tone, which lead to a red Tori shyly looking away from his gaze. The Raven noticed this, eyes that were surprised by her demeanor but turned to amusing ones.
He continued to watch the woman in front him smiling so softly by herself, picking at her berry salad with her silver fork. "It's funny... that I never did anything like this with Neji." Sasuke blinked, a certain brightness expands in his chest when she said that. But the name of her fiance made the air around a little more forlorn, he leaned forward to the table closely.
He brushed his fingers against her knuckles but Tori wasn't aware of it or didn't realize his smooth hand trying to reach for hers. Sasuke resisted himself, no matter how much he wanted to hold her so gracefully. He curled his fingers firmly. "How much do you love him?"
A sudden drop of despair bombed on him. She didn't take a long while to think about it, and answered cheerfully. "I love him more than anything. I know for sure that he's the one for me. I know that he shows a few blind spots that I can never understand, but he's the only person I can turn to."
But I'm here... Sasuke clutched his fists, the same pain eating his very soul. His emotion spilled at that second and Tori noticed it, worriness washed over her tinted brown eyes. "Sasuke...?"
"If you're so certain..." Her orbs hits directly towards his hung head in a low, confused matter. She paused. "...then promise me, Tori, that you won't ever get hurt by anyone, including Neji."
Promise me, Tori, please promise me that... She only stared at him, afraid what will happen if she doesn't. But her eyes calmly softened at the Uchiha before her. Swiftly, he felt something hooking his last finger. A compassionate smile was played once more. She nodded approvingly.
"Thank you for caring, Sasuke. You're really a good friend, and I'm glad we managed to get through this... There's nothing to be worried about, and that, I can promise you."
Sasuke didn't make no reaction, too in shock to be figuring out how crushed he feels. The blond woman released their pinky hold and gotten up from her seat and placed money flashing on the table. "Thank you for hanging out with me. I'm afraid I have to go now, but I had fun!"
Eyes fell down to his lap, overwhelmed with devastation and loneliness once the girl he loves began walking away from his silent form. His heart thumped rapidly and painfully, it yearns for her. How did he fell so hard for her?
