↳Who Gave them their name?
Dakota is the name given to her by "man." Originally, the female had just a serial number attached to a rope that hung from her neck, the number "00567" was her name. Granted, she wasn't meant to be placed where she was but after she was bought by a young Native Woman, the name "Dakota" was chosen for her. She holds her name dear to her heart because she was no longer a series of numbers. She was Dakota. And that's all she'll ever be now.

↳Name Meaning & Origin
The name "Dakota" is most commonly known as a name of Native American Origin . Dakota is a American name taken from a Native American Sioux sub-tribe known as the Dakotas. This indigenous tribe  dwelled on the Northern Region of the Mississippi Valley. The name of the Dakota tribe derived from a dialect of the Lakota Sioux Language meaning "friend; allay; alliance." The Great Sioux Nation is made up of three major devisions—the Lakota, Dakota, and Nakota. The Dakotas were known for their physical strength , unwavering bravery , mental astuteness , and morals. Other tribal nations therefore dubbed them as "allies; friends." American parents began to use Dakota as a name for baby boys starting in 1985 , where it later became gender neutral once it showed up on the female naming charts in 1990. This unisex name is now used almost equally between the two sexes.
