A few days passed and I was back in anatomy class. Tevin was there and we partnered up again, this time for detecting the structures on the bones. I hate the awkwardness so much, but somehow, we are getting through it. When class finished, he walked with me, and conversation was being formed.

"So, Jenna, which country did you come from?"

"I am from Lebanon, it's a small Arab country in west Asia."

"No way, you don't look like an Arab. I thought you came from Europe or something, you look white."

"I get that a lot. Back home people used to ask me where I came from. In the end, I gave up and told them I am American. Even though they do consider middle eastern people white, which is something I don't really understand."

"Are you American?"

"I am, I have a dual citizenship. I been an American ever since I was a child."

"Then why didn't you live here before?"

"My mom wanted to live with my dad back home, so I ended up living my whole life there. Now I am here because the situation in my country got so bad that my parents told me it was time to leave."

"I'm sorry to hear that. But at least you are here now."

"The world brought me here, I am curious to know why."

"What do you mean?"

"I am a spiritual person, so most of what I believe is simply 'there are no such things are coincidences, everything happens for a reason. What we do, what we say, everything happens to bring us to a specific point in our lives'."

"Don't spiritual people tell the future?"

"Not all. But we are drawn to things like twin flames, soulmates, soulfriends. We know that the events that take place that are out of our control are there because the universe has something in store for us."

"I am now curious about how your mind works."

"'Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back,' Ben Jonson."

"What?"

"Just something I picked up."

We laughed together. It was so cool having broken the ice. It was like the sun finally shined down at me; I was finally making a friend.

"So, what's your favorite genre of film?" I asked.

"I guess it's adventure."

"No way! Mine too. I love adventure."

"That's so cool!"

"What's your favorite music genre?"

"K-pop, yours?"

"We are officially twins."

And just like that, we talked and talked until it was time for me to go to my next class. Just little things we could think of made us get to know each other more and more, breaking the ice completely and making us grow closer to being friends.

During my next class I felt the urge to make friends again. It's always smart to be friends with someone in your class. So, I talked to the first person I saw. I guess being an extroverted introvert meant that sometimes I had to take the first step.

This time it wasn't too awkward since we were both Arabs. Our culture was so similar that we talked freely without the fear of saying something offensive since we knew how our cultures are. I couldn't believe that I made friends with two people in one day. That was impressive.
