I could feel my toes brushing the grass ever so softly as I sat listening to the wind. I felt the presence of the whole world, to the point where I felt no presence at all. I inhaled from the deepness of my lungs and exhaled softly. I felt the excess of my blindfold ties moving softly with the wind.
CEBBA!
How I wanted to feel free from the isolation of the cloth, but I knew the dangers... at least I knew there was a danger. I could never remember why, I just know there was something-
CEBBA!
The pleading voice from the back of my head, made my fingers itch to tear the blindfold to a million pieces, but no. I shouldn't, I-
"Cebba!"
That one was real.
I stood up quickly as I felt the warm presence of someone I know very well, treading up behind me. It was my dear friend Hunter. Hunter Scorn. With every person I come across, their presence feels cold against my senses, but him... it's somehow warm. Safe.
"Hi," I said using the ripples I felt of my buzzing energy to sense exactly where he was. I could feel he was smiling, I could see the alignments of his face in my mind. A wonderful thing about my powers that I deeply enjoyed. It was able to give a little vision of the outside world. Not much, but enough.
"I went to your house, and your sister said you weren't there, so I figured this was where you'd be," He said cheerfully.
"I feel honored that the prince of Scaldavia would look for little ol' me," I said mockingly while smiling.
He laughed, "Oh please."
I could tell he was blushing and it made me giggle. "Well you up for more training with me right?"
"Of course, I collected rocks by the water and they're in this satchel," He said as he started fiddling with something on the side of his hip. I took my ready stance on the middle of the hill. "Ready?"
I nodded as I felt a buzz flying right at me and I dodged it. I then felt two at a time and dove under. Every day he would help train me and my powers by throwing rocks to see if I could sense where they were.
"Is that all you got royal boy?" I asked, smirking. I then felt four at once and kicked two away and dodged the other two. I then landed in a dramatic pose for fun.
"I'm impressed," He said as he walked toward me.
"You say that every week."
"I know it's just... it always amazes me how you can do that," He said as he was nervously shuffling around. I shook my head and started walking. Hunter is the only one who knows about my powers, other than my family. People see me with my blindfold around town all the time, but they all assume I just feel around to go where I need too. But that is most certainly not the case.
"So how's Mason?" I asked Hunter as we started walking to town.
"He's fine, he's taking the royal prince's job way more seriously than I am."
"I can tell," I mumbled smirkingly.
"Hey, I am a great heir to the throne!"
"You are... but he is more... y'know responsible in his duties."
"Hmph," He said as he looked the other way. What a drama queen. Get it? Cause he's... where am I going with this, stay on track stupid brain-
"How's Ronja?" He asked.
"Ronja? Oh, she's great, yeah, she's doing awesome, yep."
I can tell even without my senses he was looking at me like I was crazy.
I would look at myself that way too if I could.
"She is great, just the usual. She's been getting bullied at school cause of me and I feel bad," I said. My sister, Ronja, has been getting in lots of fights at school because she has the "blindfolded sister" who they believe can't take care of herself. It makes me want to fight all of those little hellians-
"Don't feel bad, I mean it," Hunter said, stopping me for a second and looking at me. I smiled weakly and started walking again. I started to feel thousands of people around me and echos getting louder as shuffling crowds walked by. I took a deep breath and continued dodging my way around people.
"It's the prince."
"Why is he with that blind bat?"
"I heard that she cries blood once she takes off the blindfold."
"Maybe he's taking her into the palace to kill the suffering thing."
I heard all the whispers around me. This happened a lot more than I preferred. So... there is a rumor about me that I haven't mentioned. People believe once the blindfold comes off I cry blood. It always makes me so upset I am please. Crazy right? Pfft, as if-
"Hello to you to you stupid, stupid people-"
I said that a little louder than intended.
Whoops.
"Breathe, I know your hearing is sensitive with your powers... but that's no excuse. Breathe," Hunter said firmly, I could feel a number of people looking at me with disgust. I stuck my tongue out.
"Cebba-"
"I know, I'm being rude, sorry, sheesh," I said walking faster. I wanted to take my blindfold off more than ever. Confirm their rumors or deny them. I then felt my house ahead of me. Finally. Hunter caught up with me and grabbed my arms.
"What is your problem today?"
"Let go of me Hunter."
"No, you need to tell me."
"I said, let go."
My voice then went to a dark creepy voice as I said for him to let go. He froze. That has been happening to me rather recently when I'm upset, and this is the first he's heard it. He blinked.
"Okay." He then let my arms go gently.
"You cannot tell me to knock it off, cause you have no idea how I feel okay. And sorry, its a voice shift, part of powers that's been developing."
"Why haven't you-"
"I don't know, okay? Just... gah, y'know what? You should head back. I'll see you tomorrow?" And before he even had a chance to respond I walked into my house and shut the door. I sighed as I slumped against it.
CEBBA!
"Go away!" I growled in my dark voice talking to myself. I then stood up and went to my room. I stood in front of a mirror that I had. I tried to make out my features, but it was hard. My mind could only make out the object. I sighed and flopped onto my bed.
CEBBA!
CEBBA!
CEBBA!
"Would you QUIT IT!" I screamed in my dark shifted voice as I stood up and threw my mirror at the wall. I felt as it shattered against the hard wood floor.
