Angela's POV:
It's been over a week I've been here. I'm not happy but I can't do anything about it. Been ignoring Mr. Evans as much as I humanly can. Up until today. My daily routine before all of the stupidity that I've been stuck in was that I would work out every other day. This whole week I've refused to go to the home gym that was located in the house. But today I just decided to give in.
I grabbed the workout clothes that were hung up in the closet and slipped on some shoes and headed to the home gym. He was there. Weightlifting. He scanned me up and smirked. My return reaction was an annoyed stare. I headed to where the punching bag hung from the ceiling. And took out all my frustration onto it.
Chris's POV:
I honestly did not even expect to see her here. She's been ignoring me the whole entire week. Being around her makes me have this weird feeling. Like some nervousness of some sort. I couldn't help but glance at her while she was working out. She was so concentrated. She struck every punch with force. Her body glistened and glowed with sweat, yet she still looked breathtaking. And for my personal stylist who bought all the clothes in her closet, I'm giving him a raise.
I went back to lifting weights. Couldn't spend my whole time looking at her. We finished our respective workouts around the same time, I went to the towel rack and grabbed two towels. I walked up to her and handed her a towel. She seemed frustrated at first but still took it.
I tried to strike up a conversation. "So your birthday is coming up, so I'm having my finest chefs prepare you a cake and a 4-course meal of your favorite foods. I'm also going to have my violinist and harpist play some music as well.
She snarked back, "Wow, how kind of you, you've kidnapped me and think that... wait... how do you know when my birthday is, and what my favorite foods are?
I responded back to her "Angela, I've done my research. As I've implied before, I don't like leaving things to chance. So I had one of my men do a background check on you. And my men are good at what they do. I know everything from your favorite ice cream flavor to what type of movies you enjoy watching."
Angela's POV
This man frustrates me so much. "Oh, so essentially you've had your men stalk me! I feel so safe not only being in the company of a kidnapper, with no regard for my life, which you stole from me, and a psycho stalker! That's absolutely great! Guess your parents never taught you common manners!" I exclaimed while holding my hand to my head.
This must have hit some sort of nerve with him because he responded with, "You can feel safe. I am here to protect you. No one will hurt you here. I don't see why you can't understand. I didn't want to leave it up to chance, because you would have been targeted! And I couldn't let that happen. I've lost enough people I've cared about. Enough!"
He struck a wall in anger and his fist started to bleed. He sunk down the wall as tears started to run down his face. I could have run to my room in fright, but I didn't. I was concerned and intrigued. I called out to one of his men to grab a first aid kit. He brought one back quickly. I cleaned his hand with some rubbing alcohol as he winced in pain, and grabbed the gauze, and wrapped it around his hand from his palm to fingertips.
By the time I stared back at his face, his tears were dried. But his eyes were still puffy.
I spoke in a soft tone, "What do you mean targeted? Are you in danger? And what do you mean lost people? What's going on?"
He looked into my eyes with such sorrow on his face and said "I'm gonna tell you my story. Why I am who I am today."
Authors Note: Things are getting interesting! Angela's now been able to see a side from him, which she didn't really see before. A sensitive side to Chris. Other than that I hoped you enjoyed this chapter! Leave a comment or vote if you please! :D
