Chiasa and Tokiwa had accompanied them to the ship a week after their original return date. No one had told them that the week after Christmas was a holiday, so there was no boat available and they found out when they arrived to buy the tickets. She had felt a little bad because somehow it seemed to her that it was her fault for not hurrying with the last book, but there was nothing they could do to change that fact, other than talk to Shizuka and offer if it was necessary to pay for the extra week's stay in the house. The leader had refused the offer and only told them to take advantage of the opportunity to rest, joining the different activities on the beach.
She boarded the ship along with Tokiwa who carried several boxes, the leader was sending some gifts for Naruto and Tsunade that she hadn't organized yet to keep them inside some scroll, Temari had stayed on land talking with Chiasa, and she suddenly saw her frowning, answering in a cutting way, although she didn't hear what they were saying, she knew her expressions. The black-haired's laughter was heard and the blonde definitely didn't find anything funny about the situation, her instinct told her to go over to intervene and protect Temari, but the woman's hand next to her stepped in to stop her.
"It's their business," she nodded her head but didn't take her eyes off the women, of course she had noticed that between Chiasa and Temari there was some kind of conversation that only understood between them, but even so if she felt that things were getting out of control she was going to intervene. The minutes went on forever until she finally saw that the aquamarine eyes settled on her and drew a haughty smile while continuing in the conversation, remaining completely frozen at the moment that the blue-eyed hugged the blonde and gave her a kind of blow on the shoulder by way of farewell, "well, I think it will be until next time."
"Thank you very much, Tokiwa-san, Chiasa-san," she completed when she saw that Temari also boarded and stood next to her while the black-haired stayed next to her respective couple, "if you visit Konoha, it will be a pleasure to reciprocate the hospitality received."
A couple more words were uttered by way of farewell and finally they went to the room that was almost the same as the one they had shared on their way to the island, except that it looked much more crowded by the boxes and other packages that had also been given to Temari, who by the way hadn't extended the invitation for the women to go to Suna, probably because the council wouldn't be very happy to see that they were proud to walk down the street holding hands and had important positions in the village.
Alone they dedicated themselves to separate things, the blonde handed her the scroll in which from the dwelling she had kept her belongings just like when they were going there. The leader was sending a couple of details in addition to many purchases that the woman had made on her own for her brothers and a stock of chestnuts that she hoped would last at least until the season arrived in her own country. She for her part was carrying some gifts and souvenirs for her friends, Lee and her sensei, it's not as if there were things in Nadeshiko that were very rare or that they didn't get on the mainland, but since it was unfamiliar territory for everyone she had for once seen fit to do so.
Tenten looked a little calmer than last time as the ship moved forward and they were in the open sea, but only a little. At times she read, at times she paced the deck, and when there was any threat of a storm on the horizon she would curl up in her arms. They had already left Jiro's island behind and they both knew that once they disembarked in Tani, they had to return to the attitude they had before the trip. It wasn't that so far they had been one of those horrifying honeyed couples that made out in the middle of the street, she was a fierce enemy of such a thing, their maximum had always been to hold hands, and that kiss that the brunette gave her while Aneko watched them from afar, which had been fully justified.
In fact in the days they went to the beach on a couple of occasions she saw that it wasn't just the redhead who over looked Tenten, who seemed oblivious to the amount of attention she drew in her tiny bikini that. She wasn't surprised to learn had been given to her by Ino, and she had taken to looking murderously at all those who even thought to speak to Tenten beyond a greeting from afar.
