Penelope prides herself of not being afraid of anything! Not horror movies, not monsters, not the spooky woods a few minutes around her house.
So when her mom got home drunk, and her dad was hooking up with his mistress in the kitchen, she ran to the woods. Where else was she suppose to go? A friend's house? All her friends are preppy mean girls. She doesn't have any other family near this old, rusty dusty town. So she just ditched it to the woods.
Now that she's staring at someone, or, something that lives her. She wishes she hadn't. She could've lied to one of her friends and went there. Could've drove her truck out of town. But no, now she's face to face with this.
It LOOKS human but it's jaw is on the floor. Literally, it's hanging on the floor, it's eyes are too wide and it's fingers are too long for its short, skinny arms.
It groans and whines in this high pitched cry, she doesn't think it can close its mouth.
It sounds in pain, it doesn't blink as it stares her dead in the eyes. It's face contorted beyond belief. It's, everything is too long. It's long. The fingers, the face, the feet.
For as proud Penelope is, right now, she's not the proud, daddy's girl, greasy mechanic she was at home. She's terrified, shaking and teary eyed.
A loud stomping is heard nearby. Coming closer as the creature before her cries in its high pitched voice.
"Ann, don't scare anyone, yes? Calm down."
A woman with an insanely long neck bends down and smiles at her
"Im so sorry dear, this is my friend Ann, she doesn't mean any harm, she just likes you. Don't worry. If your lost honey, I have someone you can go rest with?"
Penelope is too stunned to speak but the woman seems to understand the situation, grabbing up both Ann and Penelope with her long, large hands and walks towards a cabin nearby the woods
"Tyme! Rosemary! Your daughter is scaring the children again! Please come get her and watch over this child for me!"
A man with a teapot head pokes out the house
"Oh dear, Ann come inside! Bring your friend! Thank you Tall Woman!"
"No problem Rosemary! Here you go"
Penelope is sat down beside Ann and the tall neck woman walks away.
Ann runs towards Rosemary, hugging him with a loud, happy whine
"Come inside dear, no worries, Ann can't hurt you, I promise. You'll be as calm as a sheep once you come in."
Penelope is pulled towards her home by her father, embraced by her beautiful sister, no longer long faced or scary. She's stunning and so is the rest of her family.
She's proud of not being scared. She's proud of her family.
