Chapter 10: Broomsticks

The announcements starting going on while kids were still in their dorms sleeping. ATTENTION ALL YEAR 1'S! TODAY IS YOUR DAY TO START LEARNING HOW TO USE YOUR BROOMSTICKS! PLEASE JOIN US IN THE COURTYARD AT 9 AM, LESSONS WILL START AT 9:30!

Varley and Ryan, both woke up after the screeching announcements ended. "Morning V!" Said Ryan. "Morning Ryan." Said Varley looking miserable. Ryan got out of bed, grabbed his clothes and headed towards the bathroom to change. Varley just quickly changed in the room. Ryan came out, "Varley don't you have an appointment today at that time?" Ryan asked. "Yeah, I'll have to tell the professor there." Said Varley yawning. Ryan nodded. "Well let's head out, it's almost 9" Said Ryan. "Kay." Said Varley. They both out the dorm and headed to the courtyard.

Once they got there Varley went over to the professor there and told him. Ryan went to Aaron, Zena and Lina. "Hey Ry!" Said Aaron. "Heyy!" Said Ryan. Ryan looked over at Lina, "How have.. YOU been?" Said Ryan. "Good." Said Lina looking annoyed. Zena rolled her eyes. "How did Varley like—" Zena started saying. Ryan quickly went over to her and covered her mouth. He mouthed 'No' starting to panic. Aaron snickered. "Varley likes someone..?" Said Lina starting to look sad. Ryan looked at Aaron and then Zena. "Uhhhh no!!" Said Aaron. Lina nodded, "Ok.." Said Lina. The clock struck 9:30. "Hello students! I'm Mr. Brooke. Today we will start to learn how to use broomsticks. This will be a long process for us all and we have limited time today, so we will not get to everyone exactly today. Sound good?" Said Mr Brooke. Everyone nodded. "Good, now grab a broomstick everyone!" Said Mrs Brooke. As everyone grabbed their broomsticks a question had got into Zena's mind, so she asked it. "Do we get to keep these our whole school year?" Asked Zena. "Yes, you keep them until you graduate." Said Mrs Brooke. A few of the kids did a little victory dance. After all the kids grabbed their broomsticks Mrs Brooke started to explain what the kids had to do. Once she finished explaining it was nearly 10:30 already. "Well you have 30 minutes to practice getting on it for now, your lunch is at 11 and then you'll finish the day with normal classes. You will come to this lesson everyday." Said Mrs Brooke.

All the kids were trying to get on the broomsticks. Mostly though, everyone was falling off. Ryan got on it easily, he even started flying with it. "How are you so good at flying it already??" Asked Aaron. "My dad taught me when I was at home, he's a professional broomstick flyer, he even plays sports with it." Said Ryan. "That's soo cool!" Said Zena. Ryan smiled. It got to 11 very quickly. Before the kids knew it lunch time arrived. The majority of the kids cheered, mainly to get out of broomsticks lessons.

At the Cafeteria...

Lina was at the table Ryan, Aaron, Zena and Varley usually sit at. "What are you doing here." Said Zena. "Waiting for Varley, but I don't think she's here." Said Lina. Ryan sighed. "That's cause she's not here, she had an appointment." Said Ryan. "Oh." Said Lina. Zena gave the signal to Lina to leave, and so she did. "Your sister is annoying." Said Zena to Aaron. Aaron laughed. "Tell me about it." Said Aaron. They all laughed at sat down with their food. They talked and talked for the whole hour. The clock struck 12. "Let's go to class." Said Zena. They got up and headed to class.

At the classroom...

It was oddly noisy in Mrs Norman's room. "Why's your mom letting everyone be noisy??" Said Aaron to Ryan. "I dunno." Said Ryan. Ryan looked over at his moms desk and realized her and her stuff was gone. "Uh- she was here and her stuff it gone- she didn't have to go anywhere today." Said Ryan. "Did she-" Aaron started to say. Zena stopped him. "No." Said Zena. Ryan started panicking wondering where his mom could've went...
