"You're obviously inlove"
The same words echoed numerously in kita's mind. I am in love? He repeated the words in his mind. He couldn't see himself catching feelings for someone-- not in a narcissistic way, but in a "I am unable to feel nice things such as love" type of way.
He never really...saw himself admiring someone, and wanting to marry them in the near future. He was already contented with what he planned ahead for himself.
And that is to live a normal life, take over his grandmother's place, and become a simple rice farmer. He's not one to dream big.
He's surrounded with big shots, lower levels or higher, he knows he can't compete with them even if he tried.
A world is a cruel place for a simple person like him, for one to dream greatness; is only for prodigies and aspiring ambitions, and kita has none of those.
It was already rubbed in his face right from the very start of his days. No matter how many times you practiced, nothing can beat pure talent.
"Something's on your mind, child?"
The comforting voice of his grandmother pulled him out of his deep thoughts.
"You've been staring at that fish for a few minutes now..."
Yumie commented in a teasing tone but her face morphed into a look of concern when she saw the frown on her grandchild.
"Why don't you sit while i prepare you some tea? hm?"
Kita showed a face of rejection, but wordlessly nodded once his was met with a warm smile instead.
he went to sit at the dinner table. Putting his hands ontop of it as he patiently waited for his grandmother to come back.
fiddling his fingers, his mind went somewhere again.
While kita was having a solemn moment in the comfort of his home, m/n was busy tapping away on his phone whilst he lay down on his chest.
Catching up to people he left in tokyo, he was relieved that they kept having the same energy back then.
He was busy listening to yaku's rant about their new spiker who's hella tall, but stupid.
The stories from the libero made him giggle from how passionate he was from the urge to strangle the newbie.
"Do you want to talk about it?"
Yumie asked, pulling out shinsuke from his trance. A moment of hesitation flashed in shinsuke's eyes, but ultimately agreed to seek console from his grandmother.
"I'm... embarrassed to say this but, i am caught in a dilemma"
He spoke out, his shoulders drooping down from the release of all the tension he's holding in till the moment.
"Is it about the new boy, m/n?"
Shinsuke whipped his head towards yumie's position, she was sipping the tea like the girlboss she was.
"How did you know?"
"So i'm right?"
shinsuke let out a deep sigh, I should've known begrudgingly nodding in confirmation.
"What is about him? hm?"
Shinsuke fiddled with his fingers, struggling to find the words to explain what he feels, and what he sees to him.
"I asked aran, my friend a similar question, and he told me that i am inlove"
A sweet smile was spread across yumie's face, shinsuke couldn't understand why but let her be.
"Well? what did you say to him to make him say you're inlove?"
"Well..."
Shinsuke grew more embarrassed, his cheeks flaring up as he remembered the words he spoke of when he talked to aran about it.
"Whenever m/n's there, i wanna be near him. I want to be the person to make him feel shy, happy and laugh."
A smile decorated in his face did not go unnoticed to aran.
"Sometimes, i'd think of things i want to do with him, and my chest feels all warm and fuzzy. It's complicated, it always makes me smile."
"This is confusing me, to put it simply. If i have the last antidote on a sickness, and we're both sick, i'd use it on him."
"I'd give him the last tofu hamburger my granny makes just to see him smile, y'know?"
After shinsuke's story of the past, yumie laughed. Earning a questioning look from her grandson.
"You are just like your grandfather"
She commented, wiping her tear that appeared from all of the laughter.
"You're friend is right, you're inlove....and i'm glad you finally found someone who makes your heart race"
She continued, wrapping her arms around the boy's head as he kissed the top of his head ever so gently. Like a mother giving affection to her newborn child.
"Shinsuke, son, i want you to know that whoever you like will never be a problem to me, okay? I want you to be happy. I want you to choose the person you really love, because love has no boundaries."
She told him, such a loving moment between a grandmother and her grandchild.
