Harry's POV
I walked through the streets, withering leaves falling down by the sides and street lamps reflecting out warm light in the night time, my scarf wavering in the windy autumn evening and my hair ruffling as I walked. It had been a few tiring months and I didn't know how to function well. The leaves fell like the tears I had wiped not only a few hours ago. As I was walking, I ran into someone.
"Oh! I'm sorry." the person I bumped into said.
I turned around and my eyes met with the ones I had once fallen for. "Louis." I whispered in astonishment.
"Harry. How are you?" he said back smiling as his partner slid his hand into Louis'.
"As well as I could be." I replied, shuffling my feet. I couldn't afford to break down for the millionth time and that too in front of him.
"Well that's great to hear. This is Michael, my boyfriend." he said and both of them looked at the other fondly. Michael swooped down to steal a kiss from Louis, which he granted gaily.
"That is amazing. I think I'll get going, it's pretty late in the evening, yeah?" I said sniffling in the end. I wanted to be back home that very moment.
"Yeah. Take care, alright?" he answered as he walked away. Oh, the irony of the sentence.
I couldn't break down in the middle of the street, so I walked back home as quickly as I could. The minute I had entered my house, a stream of tears started falling off my face. That talk had drained out everything in me. All that had happened, came back flooding as I cried sitting on the rug and my sister rubbed my back. She knew what had happened and also knew that it was hard for me to talk about the series of events that had taken place about three months ago.
(Flashback)
I had cleaned up everything as I wanted the house to look the best for tonight. I had cooked a meal for the both of us as well. As I was lighting up the candles and putting up the flowers in my place, my phone rang. It read 'Gemma' and I picked up the call.
"Haz your boyfriend here is getting a little impatient." she said giggling and Louis yelled at her from behind.
"Yeah I am almost ready. Give me 10 minutes." I replied giddily. I was nervous as I was about to propose to the person who I loved the most. We had been together for five years now and I wanted to do it on my birthday. I straightened the sleeves of my cream blouse and checked out for the velvet box in my pocket.
The ring was a simple silver band which was my mother's wedding band that she had given me before she passed away. After checking if everything was perfectly in place, I called Gemma and asked her to let Louis in.
"Harry I-" Louis said as he entered inside. He looked shocked. "Hello darling." I said smiling. "You did this for me?" he asked, bewildered by everything. "Yeah. Would you like to join me for dinner?" I said holding my hand out for him. He took my hand and we both walked to the table. I pulled out a chair for him and brought up the plates for both of us.
"You cooked for me?" Louis asked puzzled. Cooking had never been something I liked to do but today I spent hours over making the perfect pasta for him. "I did. Tell me how it is? Would you like some wine with that?" I answered proudly. He took a bite and his eyes lit up. I could see that he liked it and I smiled softly.
"This is the best pasta ever! Oh god darling you did so well. I would like some wine though. Should I get some?" he said getting up. "No, I'll get it for us." I got up and went to my wine fridge. I chose a nice Dom Perignon that I had bought a week ago just for this occasion and took out two wine glasses. Placing the glasses on the table, I poured the wine in each glass carefully so as to not spill any out of the glass.
