The legs of his loose TVA jumpsuit brushed each other with every step, making an annoying sound that only added to the din. The low humming of the lights, boots hitting the floor as people ran past, the constant clacking of keys on their strange devices, snippets of conversation, the words "Variant.", "Timeline.", and "Branch.". Above all the noise was his heartbeat, loud and fast in his ears. The heartbeat that he didn't want. Didn't deserve.

He let the agent steer him through a set of large wooden doors. The room ahead was filled with row upon row of empty benches. A large carving on the back wall depicted the three "Timekeepers" the demonic orange clock had spoken about.

The agent led him to a platform in the front of the room, and a woman with an orange sash over her shoulder addressed him. "Variant L1975, a.k.a Loki Lau-Odinson. You have been charged with sequence violation 20-81-518. How do you plead?" "What do you mean?" "Were your actions related in any way to the death of Thor Odinson?" "Y-yes."

He wrapped his arms tightly around himself, trying to calm his voice. "It was an accident, I swear! I didn't want him to-" His breath hitched, and his eyes burned with barely held-back tears. The woman watched him for a moment, then said "Mobius!" A man on one of the benches looked up. "Yes?" "You have experience with Lokis, correct?" "Yes, ma'am." "Alright. Loki Odinson, the court finds you guilty, and I sentence you to go with Mobius M Mobius." "Thanks, Ravonna." "Remember, if this goes wrong, it's on you."

Mobius put a hand on his shoulder, leading him out of the room. "Why would you help me?" He seemed to think for a moment, then replied, "You're a kid who made a mistake, and you're in pain because of it. I just want to do whatever I can to help." Mobius pressed a button on a panel of seemingly random numbers and letters and they both stepped inside the elevator.

"She said that you have 'experience with Lokis'." "I've interacted with Loki variants before. You're one of the nicest so far though." "Thank you?" The elevator dinged, and they both went out into a hallway. Mobius stopped by a large window and waved Loki over. "Have a look. Home sweet home."

Lights stretched out until he couldn't see them anymore. Vehicles flew from building to building, while people bustled through the streets and plazas. Statues of the Timekeepers were everywhere. The city practically hummed with life. "It's pretty nice, isn't it." "Yeah."
