Old Loki finished wrapping the bandage around his arm. "Is that too tight?" "No, It's..fine" Old Loki looked him over, checking for any more injuries. He had already replaced the bandages on his hand, winding the clean white fabric around his palm.
"Kid, I- I'm sorry for scaring you. Whatever happened, you don't have to talk about it." "No, no, it's fine. I just-" He winced at the sudden pressure on his shoulder and Old Loki pulled his hand back. "Sorry. You don't need to explain yourself. You don't need to have all the answers; I know I didn't." "What did you do? I mean, if you want to tell me, of course."
"I'd be fine telling it, but are you sure you want to hear it? It isn't exactly the happiest story." "Go ahead."
"Well, I guess it all started when I f- let go."
Old Loki spoke of the persistence of the Mad Titan, the blades of the Dark Elves, the brutality of Hela, and the flames of Surtur. Bitterness crept into his voice, followed by grief.
"They all thought that I was dead. I should have been. I hid on some barren rock for decades instead of doing something. Well, eventually I got lonely. I wanted to see Thor again. The TVA stopped me, and when I refused to cooperate, I ended up here. I've been trying to help anyone I can out in the wasteland, but a lot of them don't make it. The few that do make their way to the- well, I wouldn't call it a city- the settlement a few miles northwest of here." "Have you been there?"
"Once. The journey's dangerous, and I can't say the company's great. It seems everyone there is trying to bury a knife in someone else's back."
