fletcher's phone rang suddenly, pulling her out of her deep sleep. groaning, she rubbed her eyes and reached over her night stand to grab her phone. without looking at the caller id, she answered,

"hello?"

"hey, are you awake?"

"i am now."

she sat up in her bed, looking at the clock sitting on her nightstand.

"dylan, it's 1am. why are you calling me?"

"uh.. i may or may not be outside your apartment building right now."

"what? why?"

she got out of her bed and walked over to the window. when she opened the blinds, she saw dylan standing outside, surrounded by a crowd of paparazzi.

"can you just- dude stop! can you just
come let me in?"

"i'm on my way."

she sighed and left her apartment, making her way to the lobby. once she made it down, she took a deep breath before opening the door to her building.

the bright flashes from the cameras made her cover her eyes instantly. she squinted, holding her hand over her face, trying to find dylan in the swarm of paparazzi.

she spotted him at the back of the crowd, assuming he got pushed back when she came outside. they have a thing for jumping from person to person just to get some shots.

she made her way to the back of the crowd of almost 30 people crammed on the tiny sidewalk. finally pushing past everyone, she grabbed dylan's arm, pulling him through the crowd.

the paparazzi were yelling and asking them questions, but they kept their heads down and made their way through the mob. she let go of his arm once they got to the door.

when the two made it inside the apartment building and away from the windows, fletcher crossed her arms across her chest, glaring at dylan.

"why were they following you this early in the morning?"

dylan sighed, plopping down on a lobby couch.
"they've been following me all day. i went to holland's apartment earlier and they haven't left my side since."

fletcher furrowed her brows, wondering why he would be at holland's, but she didn't mention anything about it.

"okay, so why are you here?"

"gosh, it's nice to see you too."
dylan joked.

"okay. dylan, i love you, but you've never came to my apartment ever. like not even when i invited you. why are you here?"

dylan rolled his eyes and groaned.
"your apartment just so happened to be the next closest place i could go to."

fletcher sighed, opening her mouth to say something, but the doorman interrupted to tell her that the lobby was being closed for the night.

"yeah, yeah, jeff. i know, we were just heading back to my place."

"uh, we?"

"yes? what were you going to do? sit here until
they leave?"

when he didn't respond, fletcher shook her head, laughing and started to turn towards the elevator.

"well, okay. i mean, if that's what you want to do..."

"no, wait. you're right, they're
probably going to be out
there for a while."

"that's what i thought."
