Saige POV
"Come on" My boy best friend Jamari said as we got out the car.
Me and Jamari been best friends since high school, he's two years older than me so he left for college and we maintained our friendship even still. He's always been like a big brother to me.
And today, I was starting college but I was extremely nervous. I was going to Compton Community College.
Meeting new people isn't my thing. So I'm not gonna worry about that, I'm just here for my classes then I'm going home.
"I'm so nervous" I said to Jamari as we started walking towards the building.
"Why?" He asked, I sighed.
"Nothing.." I said.
Sometimes I worry about what people may think of me.
In high school, I was picked on a lot, and I couldn't wait to get out. I had plenty of bad experiences there which make me the shy, antisocial, socially awkward, distant person I am today. I'm just... Different from most girls. I'm not skinny, I'm on the plus side, I'm not no model, I'm not aspiring to be one either, I'm just a regular girl trying to do something positive with my life.
I got teased a lot for my weight in middle school and high school so... I'm always nervous and anxious to be around a lot of people. Wondering what they really think of me.
I can't help how I was born. Sometimes plus size is based on genetics, which uneducated people don't know about.
I decided to major in creative writing in my college, and do something with that. I noticed I feel a lot better when I write my thoughts, my emotions, my feelings, and when I create stories.
So why not use that as a major?
"Talk to me, why you so nervous?" Jamari asked wrapping one arm over my shoulder.
"I just don't know if I'll fit in. You know? Kinda like in high school, I just didn't mesh" I said.
"You'll be just fine aight? Chill" Jamari said as we walked in together, and my heart started beating fast and I pulled my hoodie over my head.
"Why you doing that?" He asked pulling it down.
"Aye!" I said and he laughed.
"Your hair is fine and you just got it done, chill out" Jamari said laughing.
"But-"
"You look coo, relax" He said, I sighed and said "Okay.."
"It's hot as fuck, take that whole jacket off, you trippin" He said to me.
"But-"
"Nahhhh take it off" Jamari said, damn near pulling it off of my body and I sighed.
"Okay okay" I said as he pulled my jacket off and I wrapped my arms around myself, feeling self conscious.
"You look good, chill." He said.
"Thanks.." I said awkwardly.
