1. Not a sob story

Being in an orphanage most your life really can take its toll.
This is not my sob story, I haven't been an orphan all my life, only since I was 13.
You see my mother died in the chitauri attack 3 years ago, I was out of the city on a school trip, although we did get back before the battle ended I only saw glimpses of what had happened. And my dad? Well I don't remember much about him, my mum and I left him when I was only two years old. My mother Angelina never told me why we left, always said she would tell me why and who my father was when I was older, well that never happened. But I have a sneaky suspicion that she didn't really want me to know...
Anyways as I said this isn't supposed to be sad but I guess it is.
My name is Liliana Edward Solano
I'm sixteen
I live in an orphanage
My best friends are music and skateboarding
I enjoy reading, writing, drawing and sometimes dancing
In the orphanage it isn't often that a teenager, especially a sixteen year old, is chosen for adoption. I guess that's why I'm still here. The adopters have something about wanting to go through the whole process of seeing them grow up- but wouldn't it be easier with a teen?, at least we know that we are adopted and they wouldn't have to go through that mess.
Today was the day that marked my 3 year long stay in the orphanage so far, I wouldn't say it was something to be celebrating.

Today was once again adoption day in the orphanage, the day when most adopters come in. Everyone always dressed their best, and were on their best behaviour. Well, everyone but me. See I know that I won't get adopted so I never bother trying.
I just go about my normal daily routine, in my normal clothes. A loose fitting top with casual leggings and flip flops. I just sit and draw while the interviews are happening.
The criteria for what the children should/shouldn't have or do is always what defines if you have any chance or not. Normally it sounds like under 10 years old, no major health issues, sweet and disciplined, social and not rude in any way.

Today I was sketching the day my mother died. The attack.
As I mentioned above, I didn't see a lot of the action when I came back from my trip but I did see certain things. Namely Thor fighting Loki on the terrace of stark tower and ironman flying through the portal with what looked to be a nuke. I had vivid and personal sketches that all resided inside my thick beat-up-looking sketchbook.
This one was of the stark tower with its letters missing (apart from the A) as Ironman flew up the building and into the portal.

I'm not a complete fan girl when it comes to supers but my favourite hero is the hulk (AN: I don't actually have a favourite but I prefer marvel to DC comics); he has gone through really huge changes, he didn't know how to control the power in him. And to all those who call him a monster or a mindless beast, think about what he's been through, he's just misunderstood.

Unknown POV
After the battle of New York things have been quiet. The avengers have all moved into stark towers, renamed to the avengers tower. Tony and Pepper are going strong, Clint and Natasha seem to be spending more and more time together, hulk hasn't shown his face in a while and we got a new recruit. I however don't like this, everyone has someone that they can take care of but me. Thor has Jane and Banner met this sweet scientist called Lily.

Tony then suggested why not get a kid, I had gone round the tower asking what everyone thought about the idea, there were no objections from the team. Although Pepper and Nat suggested that I get a daughter as they "needed more girl power".

I headed down to the orphanage that was in the middle of town in search for a new member in our crazy family. The orphanage was 5 minutes away in my motorcycle, it didn't look very warm or cozy. I parked my bike and headed to the door.
As I entered through the door, that had been standing open, a little girl came up to me and showed me where the office was.
The woman who owned the orphanage looked like a caring person that would act as these children's mother until they were adopted.

"Hello, welcome to the orphanage, I'm Amy"
"Steve"
"Well I'm guessing that you are here to possibly adopt one of ours. So are you looking for any type of kid in particular?"
"Not completely sure but I know I'll choose the right kid when I see them."
"Right this way then"
I was lead back through the halls into the large living room filled with a handful of kids from I'm guessing 2 to 8 years old. I looked around at them but didn't really feel any connection toward any of them.
"Are there any children that aren't present right now"
"Apart from the ones that are being interviewed... No" she said quickly. She had broken eye contact...
"Is it okay if I take a look around ma'am."
"I don't think that is the best idea... But I suppose it's alright" yup, she's hiding something or someone.
"Thank you"
I wondered aimlessly down the long corridors knocking on all the doors I passed, quickly looking inside then carrying on to the next door. And so on. All the doors I had now passed had been 3/4 way open but the last room in the hall had the door closed. I carefully knocked on the door and patiently waited for an answer.

Liliana's POV
I was drawing the sketch with my music playing in the background. I heard a faint knock at the door, I turned down the song I was listening to (if you could see me now, by the script).
I went and opened the door expecting to see Amy, but instead I saw a man who seemed to be in his early thirties. Blonde, tall, blue eyes, definitely well built.
"Yes?"
"Hi, I'm Steve" he kindly spoke, putting out his hand.
"Liliana." I said shaking his hand
"May I come in?"
"Sure?" I said eyeing him, what like you don't think it's suspicious.
"I just want to speak with you nothing else," he chuckled, "I promise" he said honestly
